"Unsure what makes this an eco retreat aside from the fact they ask you to bring your own water bottle to refill with water they provide and there is no hot water for showers. The property has a lot of potential but it felt maybe slightly neglected. There was a lot of debris on the ground, the kitchen area was really dirty and the room had rusty racks and shower curtains that allowed water to spray out all over the floor. With that said, it is the cheapest option in the area (a fantastic...

"Small, cozy, friendly, quiet....we stayed for a month in the jungle of Guanacaste with Gary and his dog, Wally!
The pool is wonderfully shady in the afternoons, Gary is a warm and friendly host, helpful and kind.
We were looking for someplace near to beaches, great sunsets, and no crowds....meeting the locals, shopping the local markets, etc.
This is the perfect spot to just sit back and relax."

"This is a great little lodge, near to local, beautiful beaches. AC, hot water and pool, and full outdoor kitchen access are welcome amenities. I had some trouble finding it, but that was more operator error. Gary responded quickly to my questions when lost. Must visit playa San Juanillo for sunset, and Playas Frijolar and Coco are beautiful with a great Tiki Bar."

"Property was as stated except no hot tub. Shower was cold. Room very basic and clean. Needs new mattress. Pool was very nice. For the price it was just fine. Very rural area but the beaches are supreme. Host Gary is a nice guy."

"I stayed at Nakanku Lodge from mid January to mid February 2024 accompanied by my little Maltese dog, Lulu. Everything was wonderful! The tropical garden setting was beautiful. I loved the pool and easy proximity to beaches. The outdoor kitchen was so fun as it generated opportunities for community and conversations with other guests. Gary was a super host! Hope to return next winter! Pura vida!"

"We loved every minute of our stay! Staff is incredibly helpful, resort is clean, located within walking distance to shops, restaurants, and the beach."
"En general todo excelente, el personal de la recepción, restaurante, son personas con una gran amabilidad, siempre procurando colaborar en lo que se necesite, el lugar es magnífico, vistas espectaculares de la naturaleza con el mar, habitaciones y áreas como se ven en fotos, comida deliciosa , super recomendado"
"I almost do not want to write this review because the TM is such a hidden gem that I don't want it to get over booked. However, the place is so amazing it would be wrong of me to not rave about this property. The service was EXCEPTIONAL. From the moment I arrived at the property and was greeted by Maria Fernanda the experience became special.
The staff at the TM are aiming for your enjoyment and happiness. They know how to make you feel special. As the Author of Winning the Customer, my business is about building relationships and high touch customer service and TM definitely overdelivers.
From the Concierge team of Andres, Alexandra and Maria Fernanda to the Wait Staff and Bartenders including; Alex, Daniel, Stephanie, Jose, Ronny, Edwardo, Joshuan, Gary and Warner. All went out of their way to perfect my stay. I can't forget Ian who got me back and forth from Beach Break, their other property close to the beach.
And the views... Spectacular! You will be in awe of the scenery and having breakfast with the butterflies and humming birds.
Finally, I would be remiss not to mention Chef. My son and I enjoyed an incredible tasting menu, prepared by Chef Paulo Valerios that was "off the charts" delicious. Amazing flavors, ingredients and stories by Chef himself. I have been to many Michelin Star restaurants, and Chef & Huacas should be in the Michelin family.
If you like adventure, scenery and being pampered, Tierra Magnifica is true to it's name, Magnificent!"
"A must stay in Costa Rica! One of the most tranquil, romantic, and beautiful places we’ve ever stayed! The personal and small touches made all the difference!
This is a boutique hotel where the staff all truly care for guests and one another. Valery, Fiorella, Issabella, and all the ESH staff were so lovely and welcoming. Danny, Francisco, Froylan, and all the staff at Almar were amazing, and the food and cocktails were terrific!
The rooms are all private and have amazing amenities. It is close to Guiones and they offer shuttle service to all the local locations. Further, they provided many food and activity recommendations off site.
Overall, it was the highlight of our trip, and will be recommending ESH to anyone who plans to travel to Costa Rica!
Pure Vida!"
"The ocean views were amazing! The breakfast was consistently delicious. The staff was always helpful and very friendly. We had a small issue with our room (no fault of the hotel) and the manager quickly offered us an upgrade to a beautiful suite.
There is access via a walking path to two separate beaches, and many dining options nearby (Guiones is a short 15 minute walk down the beach for more options). Overall a nice quiet place to relax and enjoy the ocean, the sun, and the spectacular sunsets."
"The pool was beautiful, and central to all the rooms. We loved hearing the monkeys, cicadas and birds all day and night. We really felt like we were in the jungle, yet also bear all the action. Rooms were clean and staff were very friendly and helpful. Loved our stay!"
