Our stay at Burrows was less than enjoyable, so much so that we cut our stay short by 2 days.
The Owners live next door and constantly entered the property to’ check’ the hot tub, twice daily and without any notice! Zero privacy.
Logs rationed and had to constantly ask for more only to be told that people don’t understand how to use the log burner and so use too many! They expect you to hunt around Devon for a log supplier even though their house manual states that logs are available in the shed next to the cottage.
No internet when we arrived and then no internet for last 2 days of our stay, no effort made by Owners to rectify.
We booked this property on the basis of it being dog friendly and secure but it’s not.
Large gaps under the gates and around the gates, dogs restricted to just the kitchen area internally.
The property states on the booking details that a ‘luxury hamper’ awaits on arrival. No it doesn’t unless you call scones, clotted cream and a bottle of water as luxury.
The full description included jam, cereals and other items. When questioned the Owners said it was due to COVID that they do not supply these items now which is a pathetic excuse to say the least. No jam because of Coronavirus, laughable.
The property is on a working farm with the related comings and goings associated with this.
The surrounding area is pretty but the local hostelries are lacking in atmosphere and shabby with few being dog-friendly.
You need to drive to everywhere for supplies and dining out so far from ideal.
All in all a sad experience.
