“The advert on the hotels.com website did not match the facts of the stay. The advert states free parking it was not it cost me £30 for the stay. We spoke to the owner who stated that the advert was not placed by him. It was the fault of hotels.com as he does not use them you get your info from a 3rd party All I know is that I am £30 out of pocket. The stay was good as I can not blame hotels.com for all the rain.”

“All staff were very courteous and helpful. The rooms were absolutely fantastic. We had a sea view room and it was just lovely to look out across and see the pier and all the ships sheltering from bad weather in the Bay. And the breakfast in the morning was just lovely to sit down and enjoy a good standard.”

I enjoyed the game of bingo we had (even won). Evening entertainment singer was very good. Not good if you want an early night, but did finish at 10.30. Staying again next month.”

“We stayed for one night only and the reception was friendly. We bought a plug-in air freshener as the room smelt funky. The single bed was uncomfortable. Very noisy at night due to karaoke - but this was the summer in Paignton so I guess it’s normal. Hotel is near the main strip so very convenient. ”

“Nice clean, cheap and quiet room to stay the night whilst travelling. Staff were friendly and welcoming. We had a couple minor issues (not the fault of the hotel in any way) which were resolved quickly and easily by the staff. The bathroom in my room was excellent. Massive shower and super modern and clean. Highly recommended. ”

“Lovely guesthouse that has been updated but still has kept its beautiful character. The owners Carl & Tace were so friendly from the get-go and we really liked our room, especially the bed itself, how clean it was and the location. You’re really close to the centre, sea and a nice little park/gardens opposite. “Steve and Claire are amazing, it was a pleasure staying at The Clifton for 2 nights, perfect location to the pier, seafront, pubs and bars. Rooms very clean and tidy, everything you need. Breakfast was brilliant, very accommodating with food choice changes. Cost was more than reasonable and the far better than expected for the price. Comfy beds, quiet area and we slept brilliantly. Ours hosts were so friendly and provided a welcoming atmosphere, we have family in Paignton and will 100 percent……

“The best way to describe the Great Western is with the two words, quaint and quirky! The house is in the middle of a massive re-vamp, but that did not impinge on my stay, which was short, but long enough to form a very positive opinion. My room was clearly re-purposed, with the en-suite bolted on, but it was clean, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom fittings were quite new and of a good standard. The furnishings were old-fashioned, but I thought that gave the place its charm and……
