This is a beautiful property and if based just on rooms, facilities and staff it would be a 5. However, the food is hit and miss. The Italian restaurant is by far the best. The steakhouse and others are just ok. There are also not enough lunch options. It would be nice to have more than burgers and bad pizza by the pool.

Disappointing for the Price – Not a True 5-Star Experience We stayed at Planet Hollywood Costa Rica and expected a premium resort experience, especially with the Star Class VIP upgrade—but overall, it was below average. The food was mediocre at best, buffet had very little variety. Even with the Star Class perks, we couldn’t get a reservation at the steakhouse—something you’d think would be guaranteed with the upgrade. If that’s the VIP treatment, I can’t imagine the standard experience. We tried to relax by the beach, but that was nearly impossible. Vendors came by every five minutes trying to sell things. Even after politely saying we weren’t interested, we were told, “It’s a public beach—if you want privacy, go upstairs by the pool.” Not exactly the relaxing beach vibe we came for. The nightly shows were advertised as family-friendly, but included drag performances and adult themes—definitely not appropriate for kids. That said, there were a few bright spots. Henry, our personal assistant, was fantastic—attentive, friendly, and professional. And the bars were great: good drinks, great service, and probably the most consistent quality across the resort. In the end, for the high price, the resort just didn’t deliver. I wouldn’t go back.

I just got back from a stay at Planet Hollywood Costa Rica, and honestly, it was such a great trip. The resort is beautiful — it’s right on a black sand beach, which was really cool and made the whole place feel unique. Our room was super spacious and comfortable, and the pool area was perfect: big, clean, and a great place to relax. But what really made the experience stand out was the staff. They were incredible across the board. Our butler, Henry, was awesome. He was super friendly and helpful, always checking in and making sure everything ran smoothly. He handled all our dinner reservations and just made things really easy, which let us actually relax and enjoy the trip. At the Star Class pool, we were lucky to have Yearly taking care of us. He was amazing — always one step ahead, bringing us towels, moving umbrellas when the sun shifted, even covering up my kids when it started to rain. You could tell he genuinely cared, and that made a big difference. We also had Samuel as our waiter at one of the cabanas, and he was fantastic too. Always around when we needed something, super attentive, and just really good at what he does. Everyone we met at the resort was friendly, welcoming, and professional. You can tell they care about creating a great experience for guests. Overall, I loved my time at Planet Hollywood Costa Rica. The setting is gorgeous, the rooms and amenities are great, but the staff is what really made the trip

The villa we were assigned to didn’t have an elevator. We were on the third floor. The concierge helped bring our bags up to the third floor. It wasn’t until later that evening we found out it didn’t have elevator service. It was a struggle bringing all the bags down without help on check-out day. We some how managed.

My overall stay at the hotel was okay. The first day was wonderful—everything went smoothly, and the service met our expectations. However, the experience declined slightly over the following days. On our second evening, while dining at one of the restaurants, we felt rushed by the staff, which took away from what could have been a relaxing dinner. The next night at the buffet, a similar situation occurred—our table was cleared when we got up to get dessert, which made us feel unwelcome. The following morning at breakfast, it took over 10 minutes to be seated despite several open tables. Once we were finally seated and stepped away to get our food, our coffees were moved, and our table was given to another family. When we addressed this with the hostess, she simply stated that the table had been assigned to the other guests first, which was confusing since they were behind us in line. No apology was offered, and we were only shown where our drinks had been moved. While we appreciated many aspects of the hotel, these service issues unfortunately impacted our overall experience.

PH is a good resort with nice staff. They open the doors with a friendly welcome. The make it easy to book excursions on, in which the Rio Celeste Rainforest & Sloth and Boreiquin day tours are a must if you vist this resort. Black sand beach access and view is nice, Entertainment stage nice! Two stars because the food. I would not go back to the resort for one reason only, the food. It is truly not good imo. The best food was provided on the excursions, which came from authentic Costa Rican restaurants. The food is just not good at all. Also the dinner time restaurants were hard to book because they are reservation only. Seriously though after eating dinner a couple of nights, you will be looking off resort for a decent meal. Room service meals were the worst.

For the most part the resort was amazing and everything I was looking for. The room was spacious and modern. The pool area was beautiful and never too packed. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I think the only thing I didnt like was the food and drinks. The food was okay but thats it just okay. The buffet was probably my favorite place to eat. But even the food there was underwhelming at times. And the drinks were very very watered down. We spent a day at the pool getting drink after drink and felt nothing. I think if they can improve on those things I'd give this resort a 10/10.
