The women on reception was so friendly and helpful and interested in our stay, she's a credit to herself and to the hotel. The staff in the dining room were all friendly and efficient too. The room we were in was a hint on the tired side, decor wise and could've been a little cleaner. Food both at breakfast and dinner was excellent. Pool and sauna appeared very clean, though I only made a short visit. Wouldn't hesitate to return again. Is not

Friendly staff and nice room. Cocktails were nice. Some areas were slightly run down with dirty or cracked ceiling tiles. Breakfast was good

The hotel is in the process of having areas refurbished so I do apologise if you saw areas that were slightly run down, as you can imagine this takes time. A lovely spot, a bit secluded and not easy to find in the dark, but once you are there it is very nice and cozy. We would stay there again.

Almost there!
Lovely old hotel but needs some investment… bed was really hard with the springs felt. Communal areas were great. Staff were very good.

Disappointing
Window would not open. Dirty walls in the room. Noise from wedding until midnight. In general a hotel than needs modernisation Kind staff, good pool. Breakfast ok.

Staff were very nice, especially the woman seating and tending to people in the dining room. Food was nicely prepared. The grounds were lush for a nice walk around the place. Some appointments were dated, but it was clean. The mattress could use an upgrade, but was passable. My stay was only overnight and, overall, satisfactory.

Birthday celebration at the Barony Castle Hotel
Enjoyed our stay. Staff members very friendly and helpful especially receptionist who greeted us. Very good breakfast We are happy to return to Barony Castle Our only issue was due to the fire alarms going off and needing to evacuate the building at 1am. We now understand that this is a common occurrence which might explain the indifference of the staff dealing with the situation. It is a frightening situation for guests who are not familiar with the building or understanding of what is happening when woken by the alarms. Staff ran past all guests to deal with what was happening. Despite asking for guidance we were ignored and left to make our own decisions about leaving the building and which way to go. No explanations were offered and on return to the building it was still unclear whether it was safe. We were unable to return to sleep. Still no explanation on the following morning. Please ask staff to ensure that they communicate effectively with guests and offer reassurance We thought we were ‘preparing to meet our God’ as per greeting over front door!

Dear John, Thank you for taking the time to give a review of the hotel. I was the receptionist who checked you in so thank you very much, all staff members appreciate recognition. I am glad to hear that you also enjoyed breakfast. I do apologise that the fire alarm went off and interrupted your stay, leaving you feeling unsafe and unable to go to sleep. When the fire alarm went off that night at 1am there was only 2 members of staff in the building due to the unsocial hour and they will have needed to checkout the location of where the fire alarm was set off. I do apologise that you felt like you did not know what to do, but if not prior informed by reception of a drill please treat every fire alarm as a real situation and exit via the nearest fire door. I have passed your feedback onto our manager so that he can have a word with all members of staff in what to do in a fire alarm situation. Not the best!
Staff were lovely, they worked very hard and made you feel welcome. Room was clean and recently redecorated but not to a high standard. The evening menu was over rated, trying to make it better than it actually was. Breakfast was ok, there was lots of variety but was cold and not of a high quality. Luckily was only staying one night.

Great for a rest.
Lovely place. Everything we needed for our break. Pool maybe a little small. After about 4 people it seemed a bit crowded. Breakfast good, wide selection traditional buffet. Downside: Evening meal.Chose the’bar menu’ in first night with the intention of the full menu in second night. Sadly one of the poorest and overpriced meals I have ever had. £17 Burger- meat almost non-existent, £8 sticky toffee pudding totally dry. We did not eat in hotel on second night. Great place for a break but I would eat out.

A bit disappointed
This is a slightly run down 3 star property in my view. It’s nice that it has a pool. The large loud wedding didn’t work for us with young kids. Staff are nice. We stayed at 6 hotels on a tour of Scotland and were only disappointed here.

Only stayed for one night but would have no hesitation in going back for a longer atay next time. Bed was very comfortable and food was excellent. Staff were very friendly and attentive.
