“This place is hidden gem. Loved it so much we stayed another night. Close enough to the electric railway to give you easy access to the island.. There is NOT a lot going on in Laxey, but that exactly what we were looking for. if you just want to relax and get away. The shore hotel is a great spot”

“Well located hotel within five minutes walk of the ferry port. An old fashioned style B and B with seemingly new owners (Opul Group). Rooms are large but maybe a little in need of a refresh. Everything clean. Breakfast included which was surprisingly excellent. Buffet style but even catered for us as vegans which was amazingly welcome. Well located for the town centre, next door to wetherspoons which can be loud on a weekend, but no huge problem.”

Peeling wallpaper and piles of bedding left in narrow hallways from one day to the next. No amenities other than a kettle and a TV - the cheap kettle had scalding steam coming out of the handle and the TV didn't work. No wifi. Grimy windows and flaking paint. “The Regency Hotel is a gem. It's a traditional, clean, well maintained hotel with friendly helpful staff and excellent facilities. We completely enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back again. Our room was large, clean, quiet and well equipped and we were very comfortable. Every one of the staff we saw were friendly, professional and helpful. “We rented a luxury apartment. It had a spacious living area with all you need for self catering. Housekeeper there to welcome us and show us to the room. Like the fact you can have your apartment serviced - clean towels etc. If you have a car there are reserved spaces out the back in the car park. Only negatives were the apartment we rented was on the top floor (three flights of stairs) - no lift. So with heavy baggage it’s hard work but not a real problem for us. Bedroom is very small and……
