No WiFi available, towels were very old and in poor conditions, most of the staff were not friendly. I really hate to write a terrible review, but I have been in a lot of different resorts throughout country, this one has to rank as the worst in the area.

It's a timeshare property, so expect to be constantly hounded to take a tour. The resort is many resorts and condos combined so there is lots of walking and tons of stairs so it is not suitable for handicapped or older guests. The claim of the multitude of bars and restaurants is deceiving. More than half are for timeshare owners only, and they get preference for all restaurant reservations even if you are in line when the concierge opens. Expect to eat at the buffet or at 9 pm. Liquor is well brands only and very weak. Property is poorly maintained with broken toilets, hot tubs and fixtures everywhere. Sand is dark and most beaches are reserved for owners only. The highlight was the peacocks. The town of Puerto Plata is also run down. Opt for Punta Cana instead. Resorts and beaches there are far superior.

J’ai adoré mon séjour de 10 jours à cet endroit. Le personnnel est chaleureux et là pour aider en cas de besoin. Les lieux sont propres, les chambres aussi, les piscines sont nettoyées chaque matin. Ce sont les clients de l'hôtel qui ne se ramassent pas et laissent traîner leurs mégots dans le sable, les verres d’alcool laissés n'importe où et même des assietes. Il y a des activités et spectacles chaque jour donc on ne s'ennuie pas et aussi des excursions payantes à faire. Les prix sont raisonnables. J’y retournerais n'importe quand!

We got dropped off at the lifestyle Tropical lobby and we got told there were no room for us and they deceived us saying we got an upgrade to The Cofresi. Well that was a lie of course. We had yo wait for transportation for cofresi lobby, we got checked in and the rooms were a downgrade to say the least. Two days into vacation rooms on 1st flr got floded it took over 2 hrs to clear the water out. 3rd day one room had plumbing issues and 4th day the ceiling paint of my moms rooms created a giant bubble with the rain water, it was reported and instead of putting her to a dif room, they popped the buble and moped the floor. So when she went back, we notced all the mold the was underneath the paint. Why we got a reservation for the Tropical if they didnt have enough rooms? I didnot get ehat i paid for. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE

Great overall stay. Couple minor issues with the room, bed was rock solid and hard to sleep on and few cocroaches in the room throughout the week. Other than that great experience, will be coming back again for sure !

A couple things: There are actually 2 resorts here, so make sure where you book your room. You WANT to be booked at Tropical beach, NOT Confresi beach. This wasnt clear when we booked, so we were shocked to see Confresi was our actual destination, because the photos in the listing shows rooms from Tropical. 1st Night: our Confresi room, 20412, was ROUGH! Black mold on the lamp between the 2 beds, and in the washroom there was har everywhere! We took videos and photos, even in the tub! Went to complain at 9pm, they said they would send someone to clean it. After an hour, no one came, so we went back, and were told to wait until just past 11pm before someone came, went with us to look, and then agreed that it was disgusting, and that we should get a new room, so he gave us one right there. On day 2, people called us for breakfast, offering to drive us to our buffet venue, which was followed by an offer for a couple hours tour, where they try and convince you to buy timeshares in their villas. So simply tell them you are not interested in the tour. They will hasle you for the first 3-4 days, everyday someone new, asking you if you have gone on the tour yet. Just tell them no, or tell them you already went, thank you... I highly recommend the Italian restaurant. The mexican Tex Mex was ok. The Buffet gets boring, so I would recommend the other available restaurants. Staff was only nice if you tipped them.

The food was terrible I got food poisoning. The restaurants are hard to get a reservation at so expect buffet food for most of the trip (which is terrible). You had to PAY for wifi which we weren’t aware of before we got there. Reviews said it was good night life and Dominican culture but there is NO nightlife in the resort. Not a spot for young people. Only old people and families with young teenagers. Would never come back.

I made a reservation at this hotel and when I went to check in they treated me like I was crazy and told me that I had made the reservation at their lower tear patner hotel Cofresi. Then I found out that they over sold the hotel and I ended up in a very crappie place. Terrible costumer service.
This is the sewage that goes through the hotel. The smell all over the resort is terrible.

This is an update to a review I posted on day one of my trip. When we first checked in, the front desk at the resort had moved us to a different, lower quality, section of the resort. Thank goodness for the friendly, amazing staff at Guest Services! Aris and Angelica, saved our vacation! Angelica, the Expedia concierge, was amazing in helping to sort out our room. She kept in contact with us via Whatsapp throughout our stay to make sure everything was going well with our stay. Angelica went above and beyond! As far as the resort goes, this place is MASSIVE!! Easy to get lost, even with maps and signs everywhere. Be prepared to walk a lot, up and down many stairs as the resort is built on a hill overseeing the ocean. The view is spectacular! As for the amenities, there are so many but unless you’re a VIP member, you only get access to about a third of them. Only 1 free hour of wifi a day for non members or unless you pay for it, no complementary safe for non members, and the two buffets available to non members were very underwhelming. Non members also don’t have access to the coffee shop or ice cream shop, which was a bummer. The a la cart restaurants, if you can secure reservations, that we were able to get into were delicious! Over all, for the right price, we would return.

SIN AGUA POR UN DÍA EN EL HOTEL!! Aunque usted no lo crea, no había una gota de agua para lavarse las manos, descargar inodoros o bañarse. Duramos +24 horas en esa situación en el hotel entero.. por otro lado, no hay Internet ni siquiera pagando. Nos dijeron que la señal era muy mala, aunque pagáramos. La habitación estaba sucia debajo de las camas, mucho polvo. El mobiliario descuidado, los baños sin mantenimiento. Es un hotel bastante malo, debieron reembolsarnos nuestro dinero.

Staff were very good, warm friendly and efficient. They responded to any concerns e.g broken showerhead. They were unable to address the non-functioning TV which was too bad as we missed a week of Olympics. Also we were not aware that we were required to attend a Vacation Club presentation and thus missed an excursion to the mountain that our friends had arranged.

I would not recommend this resort for families with small children or foodies. The food was terrible, spoiled and some of the cooks were using the sample meats that were sitting there for hours and feeding it to guests. The workers were not flexible when it came to requests for milk for small child. The upgraded rooms are nice and the place is clean. I would not stay in this resort. And if you happen to be there upgrade your bands so you have better food at least for lunch. The specialty restaurants were okay, but you are only able to do two and usually is the leftover restaurants. Not very organized. They say call back for cancellations, but that is very unlikely that you’ll get anything.

Als wir angekommen sind, bekamen wir erstmal eine 3 stündige Tour inkl. Verkaufsgespräch durch die Hotelanlage. Uns wurde erklärt, wie viel besser es ist eine Mitgliedschaft abzuschließen, anstatt über Drittanbieter zu buchen. Immer wenn wir gesagt haben, wir möchten wieder zurück zur Lobby und endlich unseren Urlaub genießen, hat es geheißen, dass man und „nur noch 1 Sache“ zeigen möchte. Nach dem mehrstündigen Verkaufsgespräch wurden wir nach unserem Kreditkartenlimit gefragt und mussten unterschreiben, dass uns alle VIP Bereiche im Hotel gezeigt wurden und dann die Mitgliedschaft (für 15 Jahre) inkl Zimmerupgrade über xxxx USD pro Person angeboten. Als wir ablehnten kam ein Manager und der Hotelangestellte, der mit uns die Verkaufstour gemacht hatte, musste vor ihm und uns Rechenschaft abgeben, warum wir nicht eingewilligt haben. Ein Upgrade nur für unseren Aufenthalt war nicht kaufbar. In der Tour wurden uns nur die Bereiche des Hotels gezeigt, die man mit Mitgliedschaft benutzen kann, aber nicht die Bereiche und Restaurants die bei unserem All Inklusive dabei waren. Das mussten wir dann später auf eigene Hand erkunden. Wir haben die Tour zum Anlass genommen unsere Mängel im Zimmer bekannt zu geben: überall auf den Wänden schwarzer Schimmel, am Deckenventilator Schimmel und eine 1cm dicke Staubschicht, der Innenteil im Kasten war ausgebrochen, eine Lade (von 3) lies sich nicht öffnen, Urin auf der Toilette vom Vorgast war noch da und die Bettwäsche schmutzig. Ohne Erfolg.
