Everything about this stay was fantastic from the host and communication to the condo and the overall property. Everyone was friendly and welcoming on the property. The condo was clean and well appointed. The host communicated and was friendly all along the way. Will definitely be back with my family and friends in the future.

Very Nice

Second time staying at Velas and first time at this condo. Velas is a great resort and this condo was nicely located for evening sunsets. The property description is accurate and the owner was very responsive. Absolutely no complaints.

Great condo with views of the bay

Fantastic location on beautiful resort. Al was a gracious host who was very attentive and responsive to all our questions. We thoroughly enjoyed morning coffees and late night drinks on the patio overlooking the pools and ocean. Place was clean and contained all the needed amenities. Staying in July we enjoyed the air conditioning and helped us cool off when needed. We enjoyed all the resort shows and activities and quick walk to the marina or short cab downtown. Staff was excellent and even had an on site doctor to check our kids when they suffered some bad swimmers ear. We would highly recommended this condo and look forward to returning on our next trip back.

Just right for our family

Great spot for our first trip to Mexico! Close to the airport so getting there was a breeze...beware the time share sales people inside the airport that try to lure you with free cab rides and spa services! Check in at Velas Vallarta was super easy and everyone was incredibly nice and helpful (shout out to Miguel, Jesus, and Brenda). Very safe feeling area. Fantastic ocean view from this upper level. The resort is a bit older property but is well maintained. The condo was clean and it was a blessing to have the AC kicking on arrival because it was about 95 degrees and 95% humidity. The condo was just right in size for our family (2 adults, 2 kids) and has pretty much everything you need. Yes, there are maybe a few things that could be fancier or newer, but you're on vacation at a resort in Mexico...go to the pool, go to the beach, see the town. We opted to do the all-inclusive after arrival and only for the first full day and Jesus was very helpful setting that up, and we took FULL advantage. The next day we went to the nearby grocery (5 minutes, appx 50 pesos) and stocked the fridge and spent the rest of our days by the pool, going downtown along the Malecon, doing a couple tours, and eating out in the Marina District (walkable from the resort). *You can still eat at the restaurants if you want to and bill to your room. The owner was incredibly helpful and quick to respond to all of our questions. Definitely a good option to consider for your first trip to Mexico!

Not up to our standards

Unfortunately the property was not up to our standards in terms of cleanliness, safety and overall condition. The owner was very nice and gave us a refund but it still cost us 3 times more to get a different place at the last minute. So this vacation ended up putting us way over our budget.

Just what we needed

The unit was spacious enough for our little family of four. The two single beds were combined in the second bedroom so we did have to split those apart for the children. There were no hand towels to do simple dishes and we had issues getting the trash emptied by the property but finally found someone to come get the trash...dirty diapers arent a pleaseant smell. Overall the unit was great. Served its purpose. Needed a little updating and the front bathroom had some plumbing issues which we also had to get resolved through the property. The food at the resort was not the best but a quick walk to the marina led to a plethora of better food choices. Everyone at the property was friendly and helpful when needed. The view from the balcony was also great.

Beautiful View, wonderful location!!!

I literally walked in and cried, the view was so Incredible: an unobstructed sweeping view across the full property, to the waves and across the bay. I loved the gentle sound of the waves from this location and the beautiful view from the 8th floor above the palm trees and lush landscaping. It was a perfectly situated location in the resort complex, back away from the main beachfront pool so you didn't get the full brunt of the sound from the activities in that area but you could still hear the waves, especially in the calm morning and evening hours. The staff personnel are friendly, the grounds are well maintained, the hotel architecture is beautiful. The condo was very clean and comfortable. I spent almost all my time on the balcony. There are a few things I would add or change, such as a lounge chair on the balcony, toaster and/or new toaster oven, and indeed the only discrepancy in the description is the "sleeps 6" as that would entail sleeping on the sofa or adding a hotel cot. We we only needed the 2 bedrooms. We had everything we needed to have a fantastic week. The beachfront pool area was very active and a very popular place to be. Even though I like a quieter and calmer beach/pool experience, I noticed that the guests seemed to enjoy the loud music played poolside in the afternoons as well many were enjoying all the activities and games that were offered by the great staff. We plan on coming back again....it was just wonderful!

Sunshine and a view!

We loved the condo! We have stayed at Velas a couple times but this was our first time using VRBO and would definitely book this condo again! We didn't need to contact Al because the condo had everything we needed and check in was smooth. The condo has and amazing view! Beds were comfortable and having two twin beds for teen boys was awesome. It was fun to hear how much all the staff loved Al when we would tell them our room number. If you have never been to Velas don't look anywhere else...it's a great spot! Thank you Al, we had a great week!

What a great location and Facility

We has a great stay. Clean condominium with incredible views. Beautiful view over the lush garden and endless pools and river feature. The grounds were like a tropical botanical garden complete with koi ponds. We were here one week after a major hurricane and everything was clean and perfect. The food in the restaurant was overpriced and was more along the lines of a cafeteria than a nice resort. But the owner Al recommended some of his local spots just a short walk away in the marina. We took a short walk and they were great. Al was an incredible host and very quick to respond and make the stay great for us. The place was very clean but slightly dated. But we had an incredible stay and will do it again and definitely recommend this place.

Awesome property and location, condo a bit 'tired'

We were looking for a relaxing place away from the hustle of downtown PV and this fit the bill. The complex is beautiful and we loved all the wildlife roaming the property. We sometimes jokes this feels a bit like Jurassic Park, in a good way. Staff was super friendly and the service at the pool was outstanding. The condo itself is located in what's probably the best location: high up, straight view down to the beach, and no direct sun morning or evening. Very nice! On the flip side, the unit is a bit tired and could used some TLC (bathroom, bathtub/shower, kitchen) and furniture on the balcony comprises some uncomfortable plastic chairs. Some essentials were just missing in the kitchen, i.e. coffee filters, dish soap, hand towels, but we made due and purchased what we needed. By the end of the day, you don't spend too much time in the condo and instead you will enjoy the pool, nearby harbor, and the beach or downtown PV. Prior to our stay we asked a few questions we didn't get answers to, so here you go: Yes, you hear airplanes taking off due to the proximity to the airport (until midnight or so). It's not LAX or Heathrow, so it didn't bother us too much. Maybe a plane every 30 minutes. The beach is not really swimmable as much of the pacific coast in Mexico. Also, this area may have crocodiles due to the sweet water river coming in not too far away. We didn't see any, but no point risking it. At night I would definitely stay off the beach. All in all, we will be back!!!

Paradise in Puerto Vallarta

The views from this condo were spectacular. There was great space for four people. The beds in each bedroom were comfortable. If you wanted to cook in the condo, there were basic pans and tools available. The owner was easy to work with and was available to help us as needed. We did not do the all inclusive meal plan as we enjoyed going to the marina or taking a taxi to town for delicious meals. Although, you can eat at two restaurants on the property and can order at the pool or beach and just pay as you go. They get your credit card info at check in and everything you buy is put on your credit card. There is no need for cash. You settle up when you check out. Everyone working at the resort was amazing. Happy hour-2 for 1 was 2-3 pm. and 5-6 pm. The pool and beach employees really work their butts off and deserve good tips. There is a small grocery store on the premises, but for basic things. It is expensive. We would take the taxi about 5 minutes away to Soriano''s grocery store which was excellent. Then take a taxi back to the resort. Taxi service is so easy and one is always around. It cost around 50 pesos or around 3.00 US. each way. We tried walking there once, but it took 20 minutes. The only confusing part about Velas Vallarta was that it has a combination of condos, timeshares, and hotel which is all inclusive. Trying to figure out who was responsible for what took some time to learn. We have already booked for next year! Wish it were tomorrow.

Great Family Vacation- Amazing Views

This property was perfect for me, my wife and two kids to vacation on spring break. We had access to convenience of all inclusive resort without having to pay all inclusive prices. The condo was great, and as advertised with the exception of the views. The view from the condo was truly stunning and a pleasant surprise. We enjoyed our time at the pool and beach with access to food and drinks for the kids. We didn’t purchase all inclusive option which ended up saving us lots of money and allowed us to explore local restaurants as well. Communication with the owner was easy and he was proactive to make sure we had a nice stay.

Fantastic spot, serene vacation!

The condo is in a great location with great views of the ocean. It's located halfway between Nuevo Vallarta and Puerto Vallarta, and minutes from the airport. The place is well taken care of and had everything we needed. It was nice to have the kitchen though we ended up eating in the onsite beachfront restaurant many times and we also walked down to the marina where there are many restaurants. Velas Vallarta is a fabulous place for kids, as it has excellent grounds with a peacock and koi ponds that meander down to the pools (that have plenty spots of sun and shade), one of which gives great views of the ocean. You can choose to do the all inclusive option if you want, though we found it easier and less expensive to just settle up on a card at the end. Al is a fantastic host, checking in to make sure things were going well and that check in was smooth. He also assisted us in arranging a room to use for an hour after check out since we had a late afternoon flight. That way, we could use the pool and facilities during the day and shower/change before our flight. Highly recommended!!!

Velas Vallartas July stay

Amazing property with lots to do! Fantastic pool, koi ponds and landscaping! Great beach, located right on the bay. Condo was immaculate and very comfortable for our family. We loved the small kitchen and location/ view looking out at the beautiful Bay of Banderas. Restaurants on the property are very nice, we loved having breakfast right on the beach. Quiet property but nice activities in the evening. Very easy to get transportation to restaurants, shops, and activity pick ups at the Puerto Magico. We will be back for our next trip to beautiful Puerto Vallarta and the Velas Vallarta Resort!

Exactly what we wanted!

I can’t recommend this place enough if you want a resort with great service, a beautiful garden, wonderful ocean view and a nice family vacation. Al was a wonderful host and made sure we were set up for everything we needed on arrival and check out. He even called the week before we arrived to see if we had any questions. I was debating on doing the all inclusive option but am glad we didn’t. The food and drinks were very reasonable- a margarita at the pool is 150 pesos. A lavish 3 course dinner with a couple of drinks is 2400 pesos including tax and a 20% tip. For our family of 3 Our total bill came to about $210 per day for food/drinks/ a spa day and incidentals at the market. The front desk let us put a card on file and we settled up at the end of our stay. There is an ATM at the resort if you need one- ask it’s not obvious where it is. The front desk will also exchange $ for pesos for you, but getting a cab from the airport is easier if you have pesos- so might want to grab some at airport also. Getting through the timeshare sharks at airport is challenging. People talk about towels being an issue but it wasn’t for us. With just 3 of is we had plenty of towels and they cleaned the room and gave us clean towels on Wednesday so never even had to shower with a pool Towel! We loved the gardens surrounding the pool and our teen daughter enjoyed feeding the fish (dood can be purchased at the market). Poncho the peacock kept us amused through the trip and sometimes the iguanas swam across the pool!! Al’s condo is well equipped, there is a coffee maker and blender and a toaster. We ate breakfast in the room most mornings. The AC in the unit worked great, when we were there (late June) the humidity was high so this was welcomed. Take several swim suits because its hard to get them dry overnight d/T humidity. The resort staff are wonderful! Roberto and Julio at La Ribera the beachside restaurant were our favorites and Carlos took great care of us at the pool. Velas is full of families so not your typical partying all inclusive. It was exactly what we wanted . The last thing I will say is the marina is great and there and nice restaurants that are also reasonably priced but at 90 degrees and 90% humidity the short 15 min walk will Leave you soaked in sweat and maybe no longer feeling like having a nice dinner. 60 pesos or $3 will get you an a/c cab ride there! Don’t wait til the last day to do that line we did! :)

Great resort & beautiful view!

We loved our family vacation here, we all had a blast! Our condo had a spectacularly view and we were all comfortable, a perfect place for a family of 4. The resort was beautiful and perfect for all ages. Al was a wonderful and accommodating host. He responded quickly to my questions and concerns, and fixed a minor problem almost IMMEDIATELY, thank you again Al! We will definitely be back :)

Everything We Needed
