"From the moment we arrived at the hotel, the staff were super unfriendly & not helpful. They did not make eye contact. We asked several staff members where we could find towels & they could only point towards the massive pool. The beach is completely full of people selling things like nothing I’ve ever seen & the vendors are very aggressive in soliciting you. The pool is extremely uninviting with cups and trash left around the pool and the bathroom unusable because it was so dirty. This hotel does not meet normal Westin standards. Thankfully we were able to move to the W next door where everything was wonderful, clean & the staff were amazing and friendly. Rosa made the moving process extremely difficult since she was trying to charge us twice after we were told we would get a full refund for the Westin. Luckily, it was straightened out by the helpful staff at the W. During our stay at the W, we ran into guests of the Westin who were buying day passes at the W for all of the same reasons as noted above - right down to the towels,"

"Room was very spacious, clean and had amazing views. Beds were very hard but not sure if that’s all Costa Rica’s beds. The place was amazing but it was a far drive to the beach and beach club. It took 10-15 minutes in a car to get there. Host was fast to respond to questions. We could not eat at the Westin resort and could only get a reservation 1 night out of the 4 at the W. They would not take reservations from Reserva Conchal. Very limited sports to each in the gated community, only beach club."

"Nice sized unit for our family. Easy walk to a small pool. 10 minute drive to the large full service pool/beach. Nice view. Nice covered parking. Great communication. "

"Room and area around the hotel is always clean and maintained properly by staff. Especially Felix who is always around to help if needed. This is a rustic hotel and many locals from in and around Costa Rica come to visit and stay. It’s welcoming and comforting if that’s the vibe you are after. There are many noises. Roosters all day every day, doesn’t matter the time of day. Birds. And lots of them. Then you have the busy intersection, there are Sodas (local restaurants) in the area behind the hotel, and the gives a vibe of liveliness. Which I didn’t mind at all, it added to the experience of Pura Vida. The proximity to everything you need and want is within walking distance. "

"Air conditioner broke and no attempt made to fix it or offer us another room. Complained two times. Sewage smell in bathroom in room. Noisy drunk with broken car alarm in front of room. We just had attended my wife’s brother ‘s funeral but were too exhausted to look for another room which may have been impossible. Photos are an ‘enhanced’ presentation of hotel. Finally, price doubled for Easter week. "

"It’s a locals hotel and as I have 30 years experience here I’m used to the Tico way of life. With that said clients need to know a couple of things- the music starts at 8 am and runs until 8 at night. It is well known that if one buys a drink in the bar, this allows you to swim. When we were there a small bus with about 30 Ticos arrived and proceeded to get severely drunk and violating all the pool rules. "
