We stayed in the adjoining cottage building and it was quiet and relaxing with peek of rooms having a balcony. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We were given water bottles at check in, instead of being in room. The only thought would be the carpets could benefit from a cleaning.

We've been staying here for probably 30 years, and it's just not the same experience, even though I rate it highly. Here's what NOT to expect: Wifi on the 3rd or 4th floor that will stay connected; wine glasses and a wine bottle opener (even though you're in the wine country)-the front desk doesn't even have a bottle opener to borrow, and you have to go to the attached restaurant to borrow wine glasses, to be returned; an ice machine-you have to go to the front desk and ask for a zip-lock bag of ice; finally, an updated bed that doesn't have body furrows, along with only foam pillows that are massive and won't compress down. I've been talking to the G.M. about the wifi for years now, and it just never gets better. Great character and history. Quiet except if you're on Wilson; traffic is noisy with the window cracked. Great dining all around the hotel, and Aroma Coffee right across the street, so Railroad Square is worth it...especially with the light rail train that stops right there.

Room conditions were perfect and the location in Historic Railroad Square is ideal. Walking distance from so many shops, restaurants, entertainment and coffee. The staff are incredibly responsive and helpful throughout my stay. LOVE the room, it's comfort and the old style appointments. Will definitely stay here again!

We booked it for charm as well as location. The location is perfect. The charm has been worn down. No amenities, although there is clearly a once used breakfast area, no more. The room is just tired. The shower curtain was held up on one side with a safety pin. The staff was basically no where. Although the room had a keurig machine the offering did not even include an herbal tea…. So much potential wasted. It was clean enough and quiet.

The rooms are quaint and comfortable but need some updating. We really enjoyed the vintage flavor of this 1907 hotel. There is a wonderful deli/restaurant attached/next to the hotel that you will want to try out.
