$Designed by John S. Norris for General Hugh Weedon Mercer, construction of the house began in 1860. Construction was interrupted by the American Civil War, and finally completed around 1868 by the new owner, John Wilder. Before Hansford's death, as retold in Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, the house had already been the scene of two deaths. In 1913, a previous owner tripped over the second floor banister, fractured his hip, and suffered a concussion, dying three days later. In 1964, a boy chasing pigeons on the roof fell over the edge and impaled himself on the iron fence below.$

EXCELLENT Stay!

The property was perfect! Everything was as advertise and the check-in process was as easy as pie! Great location and easy to get around. I'd definitely stay again. Oh and Michael (property owner) was AWESOME! He answered all of my questions leading up to check-in. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Savannah

This bright & beautiful second floor walk-up was our peaceful home away from home during our recent visit to Savannah. Ideally located just steps from Forsyth Park and all the sights and sounds of this charming city. Street parking was simple and most everything you need is just a short walk away. Really can’t say enough good things about the attentive hosts and this fantastic rental.

Went on a sister's trip (five women). Easy booking process. Michael, was our awesome host; responded quickly & made us feel welcomed. We chose the upstairs accommodation because it had a bath & half (great decision for 5). Rooms were clean, comfortable beds and had a spacious kitchen with coffee maker, Keurig & frother, nice treat. Walking distance to Forsyth Park. Thank you, Michael

The house is gorgeous and was very clean. The location can't be beat. There's plenty of room - the four of us each had our own space. Parking was easier that I expected. It's on street but we never had any issues finding a spot. Check in and out was easy. Great experience all around.
