“I booked a double room but we were checked into a twin with no availability to move. The room was a good size with plenty of space for clothes. Unfortunately the beds were not that comfortable and there was no shower gel in the dispenser. The bathroom, however was beautifully appointed with a lovely shower and basin. Breakfast was nice, although they kept running out of things - but these were replaced with a bit of a wait which was no problem to us as we weren't on a time limit, but could have……

Breakfast was so good and there was a lot of choice. We had a pool room which was perfectly positioned next to the pool which was clean with loungers and seating. “Sadly, this was a bad experience. I booked via Expedia where the hotel was advertising a Michelin trained chef and a restaurant. I travelled solo 145 miles for a two night break purely because of this. Upon arrival, I was disappointed to learn the restaurant closed last year. I expressed this disappointment in very civil tones, explaining this was the only reason for my visit. I asked the owner Stacie if I could therefore cancel my second night and obtain a partial refund for it. Stacie agreed……

“Beautiful listed building, dining room looks out onto large garden, stayed in a quiet garden view room. Food, amenities, attitude of staff all excellent. Would highly recommend staying here, everyone was cheerful and helpful, nothing was too much trouble.”

“Such a lovely traditional pub with good accommodation, situated in a pretty rural setting, a short drive away from Pickering. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. My husband and I had an evening meal in the pub which was excellent, as was breakfast the following morning. Pet friendly. Would definitely recommend the Horseshoe Inn.”

“We stayed over for the concert at the open air. The hotel was clean and well maintained- all the staff were polite and friendly. Our room was clean. The bar was lovely and the restaurant and breakfast was perfect. The en-suite was very small but clean. The only thing that would have meant full star rating would have been a better parking arrangement, - a quality mattress and blackout curtains. That being said we would definitely stay here again.”
