Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is our third time staying in this unit and an awesome experience as usual. There are a few things that could use updating and repair but overall very happy with this unit, it furnishing, dishes etc and would book again in the future. We were disappointed to see several dogs on the property and the lack of enforcement of the no pets policy only because one family member is highly allergic and if there had been pets in here before us we would have had major issues.

The only improvement needed is a new mattress in the master bedroom. Existing one very uncomfortable. All other aspects of this unit are fine.

Apartment needs some updates but nice stay regardless

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a nice stay despite the Red Tide plaguing the area that was out of everyone's control but the apartment itself needs some care. The beds and pillows are in woeful condition and need to be replaced. Huge dips in the middle. The lock on the door was also near impossible to open. It was difficult to get the keys in and out, and to turn the key. It always took several minutes to fiddle and get it open. The apartment is otherwise generally nice and the Island House itself is a fabulous property we've been going to for decades.

A different experience this time

Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Well, my family has been coming to Island House for almost 50 years. My parents would come every year with kids in tow and we've continued to come back. We have large family reunions here every few years and had 16 units this time. The maintenance on the place is not what it used to be and we noticed people not staying at Island House using the beach in front of Island House. We pointed it out to management, but nothing was done. We had a homeless woman sleeping in the stairwell outside our apartment on our first day. I called it in to the office, but had to leave a message and got no response. Later that morning, my sister could not lock the door because the key we were given didn't work well. She went down to the beach to grab mine and in that short period of time, the homeless woman let herself into our apartment. When my sister got back to the apartment with the other key to lock the door, the door was open slightly. She walked in and the homeless woman locked herself in the bathroom. Thank God she didn't attack my sister or steal anything. Perhaps my sister interrupted her before she could. My sister screamed at her to get out and she did eventually unlocking the bathroom door and leaving. We went to the front office to tell them and to call the police. We never heard from management. We had to go back up to the office a couple of days later and ask what was going on, only then to find out the cops did find her. Would have been nice if management would have let us know. They never apologized or offered anything in return. Others in our large party had dirty units and drawers or screens on the lanai's that would open or close. Also, parking at the apartments is now a park anywhere thing even though the spots are assigned to each apartment. When people were parking in our two spots, we mentioned it to management and they said that's how it goes. So you can easily lose your protected spot under the carport.

Great location!

This would have been a 5 if the beds were better. The view was perfect in 12N, kitchen fully stocked, very short walk to the amazing beach, updated bathrooms and plenty of space. You can pick the trolley up out front and take it to the village for shopping and dining anytime. I would not stay here again until the mattresses are changed out. All three beds were severely worn down. They sank in the middle so bad it was sort of like a hammock. We did not try the sofa bed, but it seemed pretty broken down just sitting on it.
