“If you are traveling to Southold, this is a very good choice. The property is nice and the staff extremely friendly. The room is satisfactory but I could not believe how strong it smelled of either air freshener or a febreeze type odor. I had a horrible headache the first night. Left windows and screen door open for the first 24 hours. Regardless, once the room properly aired out, everything else was fine.”

“The place is in dire need of a makeover. In the bathroom... No exhaust fan... Hinges and towel racks are rusted... Wall paper is peeling off the walls... Tub/shower faucet is connected wrong. Hot is cold and Cold is hot... Door has noticeable cracks. The front half of the room had no lights. Until this place get renovated, I will not stay there again.”

“The Penny Lane was an excellent place to stay if you are visiting Hampton Bays or surrounding area. Rooms are great. Bed was incredibly comfortable. Staff was excellent.”

“This is not a hotel. The room is clean, but it is extremely noisy. Room 1 is located directly above a billiard bar, making it very difficult to rest. There is no reception and no parking available. Overall, there is a lot of noise and the experience was disappointing.”

“Stayed for two nights. At arrival I contacted the landlord as informed on the welcoming mail regarding a locked safe - still haven’t heard from them. Very cold bathroom floor, incredibly noisy AC and fridge. Not even a glass in either the room nor bathroom. Top it up properly a room on the second floor with very small steps and an almost 45 degree angel. Will not recommend to anyone and will never return…”
