“When I arrived, we found the property needed some upgrading, some items in the kitchen were dirty, the baking trays in the oven, one was rusty, the couch upstairs had dirt under the cushions, I asked the owner to clean it and the oven tray, but we actually clesned the kitchen ourselves. There were lighbulbs out,in the bathroom the toilet roll holder was hanging off the wall. The property was unkempt in general. It should have been spotlessly clean. Also therevwas a damp musty smell in 2 of the……

“The property was good, upside down property, set in a lovely harbour town. Locals friendly. Amazing ice cream shop. The attached fish and chip shop was very busy too. Parking was roadside, not guaranteed, opposite the property. We arrived at the end of the Herring Queen Festival, which was packed out. We struggled to even unload, but obviously that wasn't something we knew about prior to booking. After that had finished, parking wasn't really a problem. A few niggles with property but it didn't……

“I booked this cottage through Expedia and received confirmation that my reservation was confirmed. I travelled around 300 miles from the south of England, while my elderly parents travelled from the north so we could meet there for a family break. On the day of arrival, I never received the promised key-safe information. After contacting Expedia, they were initially unable to locate my booking. I eventually obtained access details from a neighbour, only to discover that the property was occupied……

“We had a lovely break at River View Cottage.Even before we had arrived the hosts had reached out to us to welcome us to the property and ask if we had any requests they could help with.Entry to the property was a dream with fantastic clear instructions, the property was wonderfully clean, bright and warm ( very cold outside the weekend we visited). There was a beautiful welcome pack waiting for us upon entry and a concise set of notes for the house.River View gave us everything we needed to……

“Friendly staff on arrival, recommended places to eat and things to see in the area. Very welcoming with access to cold drinks when the weather has been warm. Room is lovely and big and bed was incredibly comfortable. Compact but nicely fitted bathroom with good toiletries supplied. Great location for boat trips, walking the walls, town and restaurants etc. It was great to have a small kitchen so as not to have to eat every meal out. It was well equipped for just two people. “As this was a relevantly new establishment we weren't sure what to expect, but we had a fabulous stay. Everything was high class, from the coffee bags - not instant, to the shower/shampoo/conditioner. Towels that actually covered me, to posh 'who gives a crap' toilet paper!!We came home one afternoon to find a small punnet of strawberries in our room! We met the owner - Angela, when we were leaving and she was lovely too. She had more ideas for the place so it could be even better for……
