“The Hotel has a lot of character and is in a beautiful location in the Dales. We watched lambs playing in the field as we had breakfast. There are great walks on to the Dales or down to the river from the front door. The staff were very friendly, and we had a lovely restful stay.”

“Room was compact but comfortable, the bed especially comfortable. Best in room coffee ever! TV was impossible to sort out, HUGE but useless. A leak from toilet cabinet meant floor was wet most of the time, and was reported to manager, I'm sure it'll be fixed for next people. Pub is oozing with atmosphere, food is excellent. Staff are great. Somebody could pick up litter outside once in a while to improve the look.”

“Our welcome when we arrived was excellent. Liz was very helpful telling us sbout breakfast etc. Our room no 5 was quite spacious and had a nice view of the hillside of the dale. Breakfast was well cooked and tasty. Glenn was very efficient and knowledgeable about the area and made you feel relaxed with his banter. The en suite was a tad small but we managed ok. Will return and stay with them again at some point if we are visiting the area.”

“Room was clean, bed was comfortable, bathroom clean and well stocked. Included breakfast was excellent, and staff very accommodating. We were able to order packed lunch for day out. Evening meals in dining room very good, and beer selection extensive.”

“Lovely cottage in a beautiful location. Stunning views from the rear of the property. Very clean and had every thing we needed for our stay. Pub just a few minutes walk away with good food. Otherwise quite remote but there are shops a short drive away. Perfect location for a countryside retreat.”

“River Dance cottage is a comfortable.clean and well presented holiday stay. The owners go to great lengths to ensure you feel welcome, and also have everything you need. A welcome pack of wine and tasty cookies are left for you to enjoy, the cottage has a fitted kitchen with all amenities. The towels are thick and fluffy too. Beds are well made and comfortable and the bathrooms have everything you need from shampoo and conditioner to hand soap. Highly recommend a stay here, it’s a shame we……

“It’s so hard to find the quintessential English pub these days but the shoulder of mutton hits the spot. The food was home cooked and great, not prepackaged Pub was clean, no damp or mould The view from the beer garden was amazing overlooking the valley The room was Pub basic but clean and not mouldy. Price point was spot on Publican and chef fantastic Highly recommend”

“I stay here on a regular basis when I travel between Glasgow and the south. The hotel is a grand old building in a beautiful little hamlet off the A1 with lots of history. Due to this and the fact its family owned and not part of a huge chain, it’s a bit worn in places but it’s clean, comfortable and cosy with plenty of charm and quirks.. The staff are lovely, welcoming, very helpful and do their best to make your stay a good one. There’s a spa, a bar and a restaurant, the food is delicious……

“A really good location to stop overnight and very happy with the room. Breakfast was delivered in a hamper box outside our room and was rather disappointing. No egg/cold meats option. The main option was oats with fruit. We ordered with banana and strawberry. Tiny amount of strawberry and the banana slices were dried and chewy. But the evening meal was good honest pub grub.”
