The Crown is a lovely historic period hotel and pub. It is located in a nice quiet village and there are local amenities such as a fish & chip shop and a traditional cafe. Its close to A road links and its 15 minutes drive from Thetford. I am told that this is the location for the filming of the TV show Campion which Peter Davidson stared in.
The pub is super traditional and the beer was well kept. There is a lot of "olde worlde" charm to it. There is parking to the front and a beer garden / smoking area out back.
The room I had was clean, comfortable and well fitted in a very traditional style. Lovely big sleigh bed and plenty of space to hang clothes etc.
Breakfast was very nice, a traditional English breakfast with hearty serving of all the usual. I didn't have dinner there but the menu looked good and if it is as well done as breakfast I am sure it will be great.
My only criticism is that the bar was very popular on the Friday night I was staying and there was loud music and singing clearly heard in my bedroom until after midnight. Over breakfast I overhead some other residents comment that they had a lovely nights sleep, and some that they had also been disturbed by the bar. So maybe it depends on if you are close to it, or a light sleeper, or both.
