I really liked The Pentland. Lovely old school hotel, with great character and a great old school fried breakfast buffet. The bed was extremely comfortable. Only complaint is that neither of the tellys in our two bedrooms worked.

Good old-style hotel, very pleasant. Slept well, the family room was decent and quiet. Breakfast good, just a bit of bad luck as two tour groups flooded the room same time as us. Location very central, and we had no issue to park right in front.

The Pentland is a charming place but the cleaning staff was shorthanded. My bathroom needed a heavy clean. (they never did scrub the floor.) The breakfast is very nice and the restaurant is also very good. The location is great for to and from walking from the train.

It’s an older hotel and you can tell they work very hard to maintain it. Difficult to judge the amenities as they were all shut by the time of arrival. My only small concern was the bed wasn’t as comfortable as I’d like it.
