“The cabin was in a pretty location on the side of a small lake — but the location doesn't match that on VRBO which states it's in La Fortuna town. It's actually several miles out of town, which was a problem for us since we didn't have a rental car and there's no public transport serving the area. “Our room was nice and clean and we had a beautiful view out of our bedroom window and off of our balcony. There was a river that runs right behind the rooms, it was great listening to that a night. It was great sitting out on our balcony, the balcony is compact though. The little kitchen was nice and suited our needs just fine. Unfortunately the pool was not working while we were there, but it was to cool and it was raining the whole time so we wouldn't have used it anyway. ”

“We loved our view of the volcano from the backyard and all the outdoor living. I could sit by the pool and watch the hummingbirds in the morning. The separate bedrooms were great for our family situation. The road the house is on is gravel but it is close to town. We did not use the washer/ dryer or 1/2 bath. “We wished we had stayed longer. This is a wonderful property, well maintained and the owners are close by. The back yard is beautifully landscaped and offers a full view of the volcano covered deck area and a small pool to cool off in. Beds are comfortable and the house offers everything you could need. La Fortuna is a hidden gem. I have been to CR over 40 times and never made it here. Great restaurants and activities and a wonderful place to relax when the day is over. Highly recomended.”

“We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Castillo. The terrace had an amazing view of Arenal volcano, and we saw so many birds in the backyard. It was amazing to have coffee in morning and watch clouds roll through valley and listen to birdsong. The location is convenient for getting to Fortuna and nearby parks for hiking, but Castillo feels much more quaint and quiet for enjoying peaceful evenings.
