Great escape

Wonderful to look down on a churning sea in the beginning of March, bubble in the hot tub, and cook in the well-equipped kitchen. A perfect winter destination

Great stay in Elk

Fantastic location situated on a bluff just south of Elk. House was exceptionally clean and well stocked. Hot tub was a big plus, and like the house, was well-maintained. Had a couple clear nights which afforded a magnificent stargazing experience. Would highly recommend.

Perfect Oceanfront Escape

My husband and I absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful oceanfront property! The views were breathtaking, and the location was ideal for relaxation. The amenities were fantastic! Everything we needed was provided, making our stay so comfortable. The host’s communication was excellent; they were responsive, helpful, and made sure we had a seamless experience. We couldn’t have asked for a better vacation spot and will definitely be returning! Highly recommend this gem to anyone looking for a perfect coastal escape.

Beautiful oceanfront property

This property was perfect for our family getaway. Beautiful ocean views with lots of deck space. Loved the balconies off the bedrooms and the hot tub was an added bonus on cool nights. Highly recommend.

Great GREAT stay

We couldn't have asked for a more wonderful place to stay! High points included but not limited to: evenings by the wood fireplace, soaks in the hot tub, enjoying the extraordinary view and ocean sounds from the decks, a well-provided kitchen with everything you could need, and the gorgeous interior full of interesting and fun art. For a 3-day stay we didn't feel much need to leave the property, but we did go to the nearby (1 mile away) state park beach (nice walk along the beach) and the Elk Store (yummy deli sandwiches).

Incredible home, lovely host

My experience end to end with the property and owner (Seamus) was perfect. The views from the deck are unmatched, the home is cozy, every amenity you could want is provided, and Seamus was a delight. I cannot recommend this special place enough!

Beautiful Home in Elk

This is a beautiful home with a fantastic view! The home is very well appointed, very clean and very relaxing to stay in. The home is right on a cliff but has a great fence - we felt our busy 4-year-old granddaughter was safe then entire time (there is also a gate to close off access to the highway). This is an amazing place and we can't wait to return.

This property can stand on the view alone yet it is also well appointed with everything one would need. It is cozy and comfy and the hot tub and fireplace are fantastic extras. The owner was lovely to work with. The town is tiny and quiet, yet there are plenty of wonderful things to do w/in a 30 minute drive. Russian Gulch, 2 Fish bakery (yum!!), Skunk train rail bikes (kitchy but cute), horseback riding on the beach with Ross Ranch plus all the wonderful views put this destination over the top.

Clean, comfortable, home-like, (elevated) oceanfront

Fantastic location; friendly respectful owner; LOTS of deck space; phenomenal views; comfortable bedrooms (two with lots of views of the ocean and balconies one with just one side window); immaculate garden; lots of thought, love, and care done to the decor. About 1 minute drive away from a grocery store which also sells excellent sandwiches made in front of you; five minutes from a couple of good sit down restaurants; about 25 minutes away from wineries. Thanks for having us!

Loved our time here

Stay here if you are fans of amazing ocean views and sunsets. We are, and we were rewarded with phenomenal ones. The house is well stocked with comfortable furniture, beds, good showers and good WiFi. Lots of good seating areas inside and out. Excellent hot tub. Not as close to Mendocino as I’d hoped-around 30 minutes of winding, but gorgeous coastal road. Not much in Elk, esp during the week. Seamus is a great host who made everything easy for us.

This is our fourth stay at Sea Escape. As Seamus said when he called to see if all was well(always does), “Welcome Home!” It feels like home. All the right touches. We only left once in four day. SeaEscape for 50 years

This property was an excellent place to share with 4 friends who also married 50 years ago, were in our wedding and we in theirs. Perfect location to enjoy Mendocino County from, and a perfect property for it! We didn't even get the opportunity to enjoy all the perks (i.e. the hot tub). This may have to be a do-over WITHOUT the friends!

Wow, wow, wow, and did I say, WOW!

Simply mindblowing location perched high above the Pacific with unbelievable views. Leave the windows open all night for the cool breeze and awesome crashing waves to put you to sleep. Just incredible. Property manager is amazing, awesome rapid and accurate communication. House is the most well appointed VRBO I've ever seen with fully stocked kitchen, plenty of linens. Oh, and did I mention the hot tub...clean and working perfectly. If you are heading anywhere near Mendocino, this is the house you need to stay in...period.

Excellent!

Beautiful home. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could possibly need. The beds are comfortable and even have electric blankets. The home is filled with a charming assortment of eclectic knick-knacks. The view from the deck is breathtaking. We arrived during a big storm and it lashed down rain all that night and until 9 the next morning, then cleared so we were able to enjoy the view, have wine on the deck and enjoy a beautiful sunset. We did not take advantage of either the fireplace or hot tub but they are available. Seamus answers all questions promptly and gave us a call after we arrived to see if we had settled in which is such a nice touch. There were four of us and we would all highly recommend this property.

Elk Ocean Front House

The location of the property is simply amazing with absolutely fantastic view of the Pacific Ocean. The living room and 2 of the 3 bedrooms have direct view of the ocean. The back yard deck is wonderful for dinner at sunset or games while listening to the sound of the ocean waves. The house is an older house but it is very very clean with all the necessary amenities. The kitchen was fully socked with all basic cooking material, the dishes are very good quality. There is room for 4 cars to park in the front yard. The address is right off HWY 1 but it is easy to find and Google Map does a good job with direction. The cell phone signal is very choppy, I highly recommend downloading the Google Map before heading out. There is a very nice beach just 5 minutes drive north with a small general store that has very tasty sandwiches.

Truly a perfect location for an escape

It's nearly impossible to beat the best part about Sea Escape for a comparable price point, and that's the absolutely stunning view and location. We stayed 4 nights and were completely blanketed by fog for 2 of the days, but when the weather was clear the views were breathtaking. The house has great privacy, even though it is right next to the shoreline highway. The location right outside Elk, CA was great as there is a little grocery store that has essentials, and a couple of restaurants that are fantastic (Sibo for dinner and Elk House for breakfast) if you don't want to make your way up to Mendocino for more options. Communication with Seamus was very clear and precise, and the house had everything it promised. In spite of the house needing a little TLC in some areas inside and out, other than food, you really wouldn't need to leave the house as it was fully equipped for anything you need. We made regular use of the fireplace and hot tub, both great for the crisp late evening and early morning air. We also loved that the two primary bedrooms upstairs had separate doors/patios and we could crack the door and hear the crashing waves all night long. The beds were very comfortable and had plenty of warm covers. Perfect location close to wineries, redwood hikes and the coast! Would definitely consider staying again if we return to the Mendocino coast.
