「I had some idea that the hotel would be rundown, and boy it was. The first room I was given the key to had not been cleaned. The second room had at least been cleaned and made up, but you can tell that the owner/staff only do the bare minimum to keep this place open.
When I went to check out in the morning, around 8:15am, the front door was still locked though hours say 7am. Tried to call twice, letting it ring for over a minute each time, but never got an answer. Had the same issue calling...
「The room was dirty. There was left over soap in the shower. The handle on the microwave was broken. There were moth balls in the sink and the ac to keep who-knows-what away. The whole room was dirty Breakfast was nothing. There was no coffee left. Someone was cooking fish in a room down the hall and the whole area stink. We ran out of hot water Stay away!!!」
「We had often joked about the Huggy Bear Motel on trips to and from Indianapolis in the past. Shockingly, we actually stayed there recently when we moved our son into a local university...and it was great. It's a simple roadside motel that is in remarkably good shape. We stayed two nights and had no problems whatsoever. The AC kept us cool on hot nights; the beds, though a bit soft for my taste, were comfortable. If you're looking for a safe, clean place to stay and don't mind an old-school...
