Galveston Beach Hotel

"The check-in process took forever. We showed up at 3:30 PM and they told us the room would be ready in 15 minutes. There were several other people who showed up after us that were checked in before us. The cleaning crew was still cleaning rooms between 4 and 5 PM, blocking the hallway with their large cleaning carts. The lobby was very crowded and there were lots of moving parts happening all at once. There was no water or coffee in the lobby, as there had been when I stayed previously. The front desk staff was nice but did not seem to be communicating with each other very well. They did, however, read my notes in the system regarding a request for a first floor room near an exit since I had a service dog and honor that request. They explained that they always have the floor manager doublecheck each room individually before allowing guests to check in, which was why it took so long for check in. -Once we checked in, the room was clean, had an ocean view, and had decent air conditioner. Toiletries were provided on the wall of the shower, which I love. -The pool and hot tub were right on the beach, and it was nice to relax in the hot tub while we were waiting for our room to be ready. Beautiful ocean view with the 4th of July kites right next door to the hotel. Beautiful kite store as well. Easy walk to the Pier, with several fishing/viewing/patio options nearby."

"The lobby area was a bit weird. I saw remements of drywall in a side area off from the check in desk and also noticed plastic covering the bar area - thinking it was new. I asked how long has the hotel been opened and they stated it has been open for 5 years now. I asked why the bar is not open and they said it never has been open. I asked about the drywall panels in the off area and why the bar was not open and the lady could not give me an answer. My family really would have loved to had a glass of wine after dinner and nothing is really close by to the hotel. It was a bit disappointing on that part. The Hotel is clean but our TV was not working well . It was not the correct size TV and the colors only showed purple & Green. The hotel is not NOT on the seawall. It is behind another hotel and you have to walk up a hill just to get to the very busy street and there is no crosswalk from that section and makes it difficult to cross it."

"Room was seemed very clean and bathroom too. Woke up the next morning and there was a mouse poo on the sink. There seems to be a hole beside the pipe that comes out of the side wall where pipe comes out. Needs to be filled. Bed was very comfortable and air-conditioning was nice and very cold. Has a fridge and microwave. No coffee machine. Had to go to front desk area to get coffee. I know the hotel is very close to the beach, so sand can be an issue in halls. However, someone smaked their shoes on the wall next to the elevator and left sandy footprints on the metal wall. It was still there the next day at 9 am. Makes you wonder of cleaning of rooms. Back elevator was out of order. Had a lovely balcony, but had nice view of hotel with balconies next door. No view of ocean as picture shows. Wrong side I assume. Remote to TV was acting wacko, so I had to walk to from desk for help, since room phone was not working at all. She said, No one was able to help for 3 hrs. Said the remote was for that TV only. Asked for new batteries, told her that batteries going bad may cause craziness. It worked."
