Other Cumbrian towns worth visiting within easy access include Ambleside, Kendal, Hawkshead, Cartmel and Ulverston. Families with children will enjoy a visit to the World of Beatrix Potter, South Lakes Zoo, the Lakeland Aquarium, Motor Museum and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, where you can take a ride on a steam train. Grizedale Forest also makes a great day out with plenty of trails, mountain biking, Segways and the Go Ape treetop adventure. There are plenty of events and festivals held throughout the year, which together with the stunning scenery and great walking opportunities, make this the perfect year round destination.
