Very central—walk to the shambles, Cathedral, pubs and dinners…we also took a bus from just down the street into the farmlands of Ampleforth and Scawton (1 hr 10 minutes)…and then train back from Helmsley…it was a wonderful trip to visit our ancestors dating back to 1790 in the farms and in the city if York from 1888…great staff…"

" I loved everything about Judges and would stay there again in a heartbeat! I stayed in a Character Double room. It was extremely spacious, had comfy bed and pillows, a view of the Minister, and a bath to soak in. The amenities are very well thought out and made me feel cared for (fluffy robe and slippers, washcloths, complimentary sparkling water and chocolates, quality bathroom products, and eye mask and earplugs - didn't need them because it was very quiet at night). The breakfast was outstanding! Full breakfast cooked upon order and the buffet with pastries, juices, etc. They start you off with a delicious fresh squeezed juice of orange, lemon, and ginger. Staff was all wonderful. Judges was my favorite hotel during my 2 week trip through the UK!"

"Great location, attentive,responsive staff. There are many local eateries, public houses etc. Even with this the hotel is situated in a quiet area. The breakfast is very good and covers a wide range of tastes. The only point I did not like was that only scrambled eggs were available. We did not use the bar to drink as we were out and about a lot, however it did make ice available when required. "
