"It’s a simple hostel, but the room was clean and as advertised. The check-in system is automated and worked fine. You can pay 5 francs to check-in early. The balcony was nice; location was great."

"The hotel is well-placed, more or less half-way between the two train stations and in a street of restaurants (mainly Indian). The staff seem to also work in the Mexican restaurant below and all seem to be pretty easy-going about checking in and out. There are about 15 rooms on three floors, en-suite and shared bathrooms. All pretty quiet while we were there."

"Friendly and accommodating staff, I was late booking our dinner but get accomodated, good food. Small but charming, beautiful and sustainable vegetable garden. Rooms are small so is the bathroom, XL size person may have challenges using the bathroom. I understand that these type of accomodation caters for hikers so our room have hiker's feet smell which you get used after a while. "

"If you want to experience the Swiss Alps in a true fashion, stay there. The pension is family run,you eat what they cook. There are no other restaurants around. There’s no tv but a room full of board games, fabulous views. Nights are quiet with only the stars and the sounds of the mountains around you for company. Sabine, the owner aims to please and is always busy finding solutions for unexpected events. No cars allowed and the only way to get there is with the funicular from Lauterbrunnen. For...

"Property was a little far from public transportation, about 12 minutes walk from the closest bus station and the road had no sidewalk, making it a little hazardous. Wooden floors were squeaky but the hotel staff were extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating. 5 stars to the staff."

"We were only in Switzerland for a couple of days as part of a larger trip but the Hotel Bären was ideally located to explore the Interlaken region and for hiking around Kandersteg. The views from our room were stunning and the area was quiet and relaxing. It is preferable to have a car when visiting as the hotel is 15 minutes or so up a relatively twisty road. The staff were friendly, check in/out was straightforward and the breakfast was really good! "

"Hostel was in a great location in the city centre (however that meant slightly further away from the train station ~15 min walk which was a slight struggle with a heavy luggage). Service staff were helpful and friendly. Room had amazing view of the mountains. Decent breakfast spread. The room had a slightly musty smell. Lack of PowerPoints in room for charging"

"This was a one bedroom studio apartment. The condition of the apartment was not great. The apartment is on the 4th floor and the building has no elevator - about which we are not informed about at the time of booking. Imagine carrying 4 suitcases to the 4th floor. The appartment gets direct sun and there were no fans. It got very very hot in the day time. This apartment is built in attic and we kept on bumping our heads. Avoid this place, if you can."

"Very friendly staff, great breakfast, coffee and food options for lunch. Also a convenient location to Interlaken West. Room itself was very cozy and clean. Having a few more furniture might have made it even better. Entrance was little tricky with steep steps so could be difficult for older people. "

"What a beautiful location! We used the trains and buses so the hotel was very convenient. Someone was there to greet us upon arrival but there is a self check-in that is helpful when arriving at various times. Breakfast was available at an extra charge but can be eaten there or taken with you. The shower is in the room so with four people there was a little less privacy and space but beds were comfortable and it is very quiet. This was a great place for us to branch out from this little town...

"No space to move. Shower cubicle encrusted with grime, basin without hot water, no toilet paper. Nobody available to assist with anything. Guests are given a contact number, but get hung up on if they ring it. On the plus side, the bed was reasonably comfortable. Seriously, do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else."

"The rooms were small, bathroom was also small but manageable compared to the price that we paid. The breakfast was good. Best part is that the station and restaurants are just outside the hotel. Prime location. Friendly staff. The rooms could be made better, there were spider webs at some corner. "
