“This is a gem in the cute little village in Alford. The staff, rooms, bar and restaurant were all great. Highly recommend this hotel.”

“We had an excellent stay at this beautiful hotel. The room was particularly clean and comfortable and the shower was just amazing. The overall decor of the hotel is beautiful, with exceptional attention to detail. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Breakfast was cooked to order and was excellent. ”

“Stayed at this hotel”

“Easy parking to rear of hotel. Friendly, efficient welcome & check-in. Clean, spacious warm room (room 5). Good choice of tea/coffee. Large fluffy bath towels. Excellent freshly cooked breakfast again with excellent service.”

“First class hotel, relaxed atmosphere, beautiful situation excellent food and very friendly efficient staff”

“Beautiful property in an idyllic setting. Breakfast is a wonderful combination of husband-made marmalades, fresh fruit and perfectly cooked dishes. The hostess is beyond helpful, giving us a perfect itinerary that included an amazing nearby art hotel and a surprisingly interesting castle. We will stay here again!”

“A beautiful property. You can see they've really maintained the elegance of the house. There were just a few small things like the ceiling was a bit cracked, the faucet cap was missing, and the toilet needed to be pumped in order to flush. But the staff were great and the food was very good so all in all, I would recommend it as a place to stay.”

“A nice hotel that just needs a spruce up. Basic room that had ‘old lady perfume smell’ but clean. Friendly staff. Limited bar. Small but adequate breakfast buffet. Looks more like a retirement home than a hotel.”

“Hugely enjoyable as always”

“Love this historical village hotel! The staff were AMAZING! The cuisine was delectable! We could not be more delighted! Excellent value and hospitality!”

“This is an olde worlds building lots of little rooms also larger function suite all connected with old fashioned corridors connecting them. But there bedrooms are not small and hey are very spacious en-suite rooms. Beautifully decorated with the period they represent. The staff are very peasant, helpful and friendly. Good food. Excellent venue for a wedding as beautiful setting inside and outside extensive countryside woodland walk to the river.”

“I stayed in a room rather than one of the lodges, and the room was lovely, very comfortable, and spotlessly clean. It's worth noting its on the very edge of the town, around a 15-minute walk from the centre of Ballater. My only disappointment was that the rooms are not serviced daily unless you are staying for a longer period, which wasn't explained at check-in. It was a little frustrating to return after a long day out to find the room hadn't been serviced, as that's one of the things I most……

“Very nice hotel, the staff are very nice and helpful, guests parked the car have discount? Uk$5 for 24 hours”

“Excellent Hotel and great value for money.”

“Nice, large room with a soft, comfortable bed. Good amenities, large bathroom with tub and shower. Fabulous shampoo and body wash! TV wasn't good though, pixelated on most channels. Poor reception. We had dinner and breakfast there. Both highly recommended, tasty, lots of options, delicious. Staff are marvelous! Always pleasant and helpful, despite being short staffed, they worked hard and made our visit very enjoyable! Recommended hotel and restaurant!”
