Marcus and the team were amazing! Great service, atensuin to detail and really friendly made our stay fabulous. We booked dinner for the first night, the food was lovely, so much so we eat there again the following night. We’d definitely recommend the fish and chips, pizza and Zuppa Di Pesce - amazing fresh fish and tomato soup!

Everyone was friendly and helpful. Our room was well presented large and clean. Everything you need for a couple of night's away. The walking straight from the Hope and Anchor was lovely. We didn't need the car for the whole weekend. However if you aren't from the area there's lot's of place's to visit within a short drive.

Room was fresh and clean, however it wasn’t as we expected from the photos- the bathroom was tiny with nowhere to put even your toothbrush, and the bedroom was equally small. For one night or for one person, it’s fine.

Friendly hotel, beautiful village
Very friendly and helpful hosts in a beautiful village by the sea. Good for walking and sightseeing. 20 min walk, or quicker bus ride from the station, but well located for visits to Northumberland coast and Newcastle.

Lovely location, fabulous food
Fantastic location in the beautiful village of Alnmouth. 3min drive / 15 min walk to Alnmouth station. 3min walk to beautiful beach. Evening meals and breakfasts were excellent (although 1 breakfast service very slow, almost missed our train). Staff very helpful. Some rooms at front, great. One at back above kitchen, bathroom good but no view from bedroom window.

Staff were lovely and very helpful. The place is looking a little tired. Carpets well worn. Bathroom was a tight squeeze with the sink behind the door. Bed was comfy and the Amazon fire stick was a bonus.

Lovely hotel for a one night stay
One night stay, lovely hotel and very friendly staff. No parking on site but plenty spaces along the one way street so weren’t far from front door. Rooms small but lovely, beautifully decorated and clean, small issue with shower angle part which was loose so meant shower either went towards the floor or straight out but not a big problem for us ! Quiet area despite being on street. Restaurant was great with it just being downstairs and the food tasty. A slight issue with payment, paid via hotels.com prior to arrival but this hadn’t shown on their system so was asked to pay on departure and look into it, all sorted and was refunded what I was owed, very helpful but would be aware next time to have payment confirmation to hand to show I had paid. Otherwise great place to stay. Next time I would bring the dog as could see lovely places to walk and they were very welcome!!

Wonderful location in Alnmouth, walking distance to the beach. Great breakfast! The room was clean, tidy, and comfortable. Drawbacks: the bedroom had no ventilation other than the window, so we had to sleep with the window open (in the middle of the winter) due to the cooking smells. (Granted this is upstairs from a pub.) The fan in the bathroom also wasn't working, so the steam from the shower lingered.

Stayed here for one night only. The whole pub has been recently refurbished to a very high standard. It is clean and comfortable with modern rooms. Food is both local and Italian. Staff are all very friendly and helpful. The only drawback is the parking restrictions throughout Alnmouth village, although Hope and Anchor staff are happy to advise the best current parking options. I would certainly re-visit the Hope and Anchor.

Good hotel for couple of days in this lovely village. Dinner was good but some items missed from our breakfast and were inedible when delivered, this was only complaint. Nice comfortable room and great hot shower.

Wrong Room !
Some rooms may be ok but Curlew was a very small twin room over kitchen and was very hot and stuffy. The only window opening was tiny and the glass was heavily frosted so claustrophobic... breakfast was excellent however

Lovely friendly cosy hotel. The staff were all helpful and friendly. Not the place to stay if you don't like or are allergic to dogs. I've never stayed anywhere with so many at one time. No problem to me but maybe not for everyone. Alnmouth was busy and parking was difficult during the day but nice and quiet overnight

The staff were welcoming, the room was as pictured and very comfortable. We ate there one night and the food was good. Breakfast was OK though lacked fresh fruit and yoghurt options, but cooked dishes were good. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hope & Anchor. The rooms were beautifully decorated and the food was excellent. There are issues with parking as the village is extremely popular so you may have to park a little way away from the hotel. The Wi-Fi in the hotel kept dropping out. That may be an advantage to some 😉 Overall a fantastic place to unwind with beautiful beaches 2 minutes away.

Fantastic B&B but avoid Curlew room in hot weather
Checked in to be asked if we’d been told how hot the Curlew room was as it’s above the kitchen, has a large frosted glass window with a tiny window pane to open. Hotels.com does not mention this and neither did any of the 3 emails sent by The Hope & Anchor. After spending an hour in the room when it was 25 degrees outside with 3 fans that just circulated the hot air in the room, I went to reception. I’d checked Hotels.com so knew there were 2 other rooms available so they kindly upgraded us to a much better room with 2 open windows. So glad we were able to do this.

Lovely quaint hotel. Rooms lovely and lovely big bathroom and shower. Ate there Sunday night and food was excellent. Perhaps just a wee bit big portion but managed all the succulent roast beef. Breakfast was also great. Freshly cooked to order. The bacon was the best we have had in a long while. Would stay again if in area. Very peaceful.
