Windows and frames could do with a good clean, food was lovely, reception could do with being manned at busy times instead of the bar person having to serve both the bar and reception at the same time. Will stay again

Somewhat unloved and in need of refurbishment. A generous layer of dust around the skirting boards. Areas of damp and attempts to fix them in the corridors. Far from great view of the oil tank outside the window. If you like a cold shower this is the place to stay. On a good note the room was very dark…

My go to hotel in the area because it is always friendly, nothing is too much trouble, clean and convenient place to stay. I rarely eat there, doing so with friends in the neighbourhood, which is why 4 stars not 5 but given the comments I hear from those who do I suspect 5 would be deserved.

It looked like my room had not been used for a while as there were several spiders webs, some with rather large living spiders in them. I was too late for the evening meal but the breakfast was good. Still no real ale on pumps in the bar which is a great shame as they used to have a good selection.
