"Staying in an actual castle was a dream come true for this soon to be 50 year old! The room was amazing and staff were phenomenal. The food was terrific - both the basement restaurant and the breakfast room. We only stayed one night due to our busy schedule but would've loved to stay and enjoy the beautiful grounds. Price was similar to a night in a 2-3 star hotel in London, which was shocking - would've much rather stayed here!!! This was a bucket list check off for me for sure!"

"The property worked for our family of 5 stay; however, property does not have AC which would be important in the summer. Additionally, sleeping 5 meant sharing spaces as there is only a large great room / kitchen and the master bedroom with master bath. If you need a laundry you’ll have to reserve somewhere else. "The hotel was lovely, the location was excellent. We had a view of the castle out of our window! We used the pool and it was clean and a nice temperature. The only issue we had was the heat. The hotel was incredibly hot, the windows were not easy to open and didnt open more than a couple of cms. I believe this is a wider issue around the UK not just at this hotel but thats why I rated 4/5"

"This is a very (relatively) affordable place to stay. I did a social dinner that was fun. Sleeping in the big rooms in a pod was OK once I had the earplugs in, but since one must be quiet there is a vibe of "don't talk to me!" throughout the facility. Outside of the sleeping room, it is a youth hostel and has the energy and music that goes with that. The staff were great."

A top notch hotel, with some really cool public spaces and a pretty good bar."

"I loved this hotel. Excellent staff and a very comfortable bedroom with a four poster bed to the front of the property. The guest lounge with its roaring fire was very welcome after a long day. I would have liked a lined blind or curtain for the bathroom which could have provided more privacy from the road. Parking here is a real bonus and the buses for the city centre stop are just a short walk away. I would love to revisit this hotel when next in Edinburgh."
