“Very basic…no room housekeeping, clean towels and no replacement tea/coffee etc.. at breakfast, even though the food was adequate and the staff were helpful the restaurant and tables were bleak …more resembling a canteen than a restaurant. However our main complaint is that we were staying at the hotel in order to attend an 80th birthday party in the ballroom. Part way through the party there was water falling onto the stage and onto the band’s equipment which meant that the hotel instructed us……

“I knew the hotel was old and would be dated which I was fine with, reminded me of the shining which I actually liked but the room itself I wasn’t impressed at all with. I paid extra for the better room thinking it would be slightly nicer as it says they were recently renovated but that was wrong. The paint was flaking off the walls and lying on the carpet. The windows were filthy and the bathroom was horrible and rusty too. The icing on the cake was the door not closing or locking and the staff……
