Barnstaple Basett's Ridge Hotels

"Excellent room and hotel in general with pleasant staff however the food was very poor. Four star hotel but only offering poorly cooked pub food such as F&C, Scampi, Burgers, roast of the day etc.. nothing adventurous, no pasta, curries, no fresh fish although a few miles from the sea except fried cod from The North East I guess. It’s a fair walk to the next restaurant (a hotel) and we saw a Wetherspoons in Barnstaple which we didn’t fancy. We ended up on our last night of three collecting a sandwich from a garage and it was nicer than the previous nights F&C…. I hate writing a poor review as the staff were trying so hard and the hotel is excellent in all other aspects but someone at an executive level made the menu decision as apparently there used to be a bistro…..At 4* hotel prices one aspects 4* food to be available . I should have checked the web a bit closer I expect. Also be aware breakfast closes at 9.00am weekdays (9.30am weekends) and when you’re on a break you need a bit more leeway. It’s an expensive “full English” at £17 and then offered Eggs Benedict at a £3 supplement that’s ludicrous. I suppose we are classed as elderly and so expect everything we need on site and not to have to drive for meals."

"The house is beautiful. We were a group of 7 and we enjoyed our weekend. Hot tub was ready for us to use on arrival. That was a absolute treat. The house was clean. Parking around the back was perfect. Couldn't find a fault in the house apart from the bathrooms could do with having bath mats as its quite slippery and dangerous when coming out of the shower. The house is very modern and upto date. Hand guide book left has wifi password. There is a Asda not to far so herting around by car is easy. Allocated parking space is good. We will definitely be coming back. Thankyou "

"A small newly renovated room . Comfortable bed. Lovely indoor pool but very busy , they need to introduce swimming times. Did not try outdoor pool as weather not brill . Need a lift . "

"Plenty of parking, easy check in and out, clean comfortable room. Ground floor room, window latch broken, couldn’t have window open as very windy. Good to have restaurant on site for breakfast and dinner "

"Great little apartment with fantastic views across the estuary. Location fantastic with a ten minute walk to Instow and the beach. Apartment very well equipped. Lovely little touches with decorations ( almost too many not leaving much work top space in the kitchen). Up to date photos would be good on cottages.comMay be a bit cosy with 4 adults (we were 3 adults and dog )Slightly nit picking, would have helped to have settee across the lounge facing TV. Got a bit of neck ache. ( Especially if 3 people sharing the sofa)Would recommend"
