"Hotel is lovely and it is a great location. Room was nice and clean and had everything you needed. Reception staff were friendly as were the staff in the breakfast area. "We were less than a block from the beach. Although the room was small, it was painted light and felt airy and roomy. The only downside was the shower. It was tiny, which is manageable, but the rain shower head made it so there was no place in the shower you weren't getting wet. There was not a shelf for soap or anything and the door wouldn't close. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay."

"Although ideally located I was surprised to discover on arrival at circa 1800h on a Sunday evening that no food was available and worse still they have stopped serving breakfast altogether. I found out about the lack of breakfast on reading a notice pinned to the inside of the door to the room. I was told that The Bear have been unable to amend their website!!! Despite being invited to check in online I did not receive any notification about the lack of catering. There were no alternative food options in Burwash on the evening but The Royal George/Eurasia Kitchen in Hurst Green made an exception and provided me with an excellent meal of Beef in Pepper Sauce with Egg Fried Rice, which saved the day. "
