Lake Vacation

Overall wonderful trip. Everything we needed was available and comfortable. Only thing to make clear is this is someone’s house more than it is a rental. Did not change my overall experience but it does feel odd. Lots of things need to go away like the two old boats. Lots of old accumulated furniture. We loved our stay but it is not set up as a rental as much as using someone’s house for a few days. Other than that I am well rested and had a great time.

Great location right on the water. Nice screened porch for relaxing and well stocked kitchen. Had no problems checking in or out and the host was very communicative. The property was definitely in need of some maintenance. The beach area was overgrown, the hammock was broken, the couch in the living area was partially broken, and numerous lights didn't work. The entire basement had a musty smell and triggered at least one member of our group's allergies pretty badly. These were all minor inconveniences rather than a major deal-breaker, but some additional upkeep would have elevated the experience.

Staying at Bear Essentials was like visiting Nana’s house on the lake

Staying at Bear Essentials was like visiting Nana’s house on the lake. First, almost everything worked at the house. Great WiFi, lots of hot water and good water pressure. Appliances worked and the kitchen is stocked with plates, glasses, and untold amounts of baking/cooking supplies. I suggest purchasing a cheap drip coffee maker as a nice addition. Not a fan of K-cups and the weak coffee it makes. The welcome package of dish soap/ dishwasher pods/ paper towels and sponge was a nice touch. The house was clean and organized. The style of the house is 1990s grandma. Lots of pics of young children and weddings on the walls. Curio cabinets filled with tchotchkes. Furnishings classic grandma. It would be helpful to label the light switches in main floor room. There must be 25 and many don’t seem to do anything. The deck overlooking the lake was awesome. We spent a lot of time out there on both the screened in and open parts. Plenty of furniture to sit on. The lot itself is big and beautiful. Fire pit, kayaks, boat house, even a small beach. The water was warm and clear. The top deck of the boat house is closed but there are plenty of places to sit in the yard. This area of the lake was also calm and quiet. So, if you like a visit to Nana’s 1990s style house on the lake this is the place for you.

Nice, a little dated but it didn't really matter. Everything worked for us...It was clean and everyone had a good time...will be adding more days next year!!
