The room amenities were nicely done, spacious, and rooms were very comfortable.” “The sleep quality was excellent, and the mattresses felt like sleeping at home.” “The restaurant's food was tasty and freshly made, and there were various options.”
Highly recommended
We had an wonderful stay at the hotel. Very helpful and friendly staff willing to assist in the best possible way. Very good size room with great views of the hills. Nice pub and the restaurant served authetic (5 stars for that) Indian food, Chef Vinod was brilliant. Excellent location for a stop over if heading to highland. Will be returning for sure.

Great people, friendly and helpful. The room was clean, the shower was terrible. Being a mix of hotel amd Indian restaurant our room constantly smelt of the food which was not good. If they had better extraction from the kitchen this may not have been the case. When leaving there was no key drop box so spent a while trying to find a safe space to leave key. Good one night stay hotel in my opinion.
Room 1 is clearly meant for 1 person and is not a double. Pillows hung over sides of bed. On arrival towels for 1 and no milk for tea. No bedside table or bedside light. Plenty of room for a normal sized bed if arranged properly. 2 wardrobes for some reason? To sit on toilet you have to sit sideways and swing round. 3 nights with virtually no sleep as impossible to turn over without knocking other person out of bed. Got back on the Sunday night at 2340 and door locked - no bell or phone number to gain access and only room key provided ( we were not advised that this would be the case) Did have a curry there which was excellent. Down side of the restaurant is that the aroma of curry is in the bar and hotel 24 hours a day.
The Crags Hotel is conveniently located on the main street of Callander, making it easily accessible from the bus stop and surrounded by many activities. It was the cheapest option we found, as our goal was hiking, and we just needed a place to sleep. However, several issues made our stay mediocre to poor.
Firstly, we booked through Expedia, but upon arrival, they didn’t have our reservation or any record of it. Two staff members, one at the bar and a waitress, couldn’t handle the situation and had to call the manager or owner. After some time, they sorted it out and assigned us room number 1.
They couldn’t find the room key. When we finally got to the room, it was extremely small, and the door didn’t open properly. It was clearly a single room, as there was only one towel and one bottle of water, but we had booked for “two people.” The room description mentioned a television, but it was removed because it didn’t work.
I asked if I could leave my luggage the next day to do another hike before returning to Glasgow, which confused them again. They had to contact the manager/owner, who eventually agreed. The check-out time is at 10:30 am, which is unusual, and the check-in time is at 3:00 pm. So, for a one-night stay, you have to wake up early to leave by the specified time.
Overall, the place is decent, clearly not a luxury hotel, but it is small and the staff is inefficient. Fortunately, they managed to resolve each issue as it arose.

Needs updating. But totally fine for 2 weary walkers after a day in the hills
This was a great experience. Friendly staff. Indian restaurant was amazing. Great service and will definitely stay again. Things to remember, they don't do breakfast but there are cafes and a hotel across the road for breakfast. The room was clean and well stocked for staying but a little dated. Very comfortable bed. I would definitely recommend this hotel

Disliked: Amenities
The room was small and very basic , Shower room / toilet cramped, , but clean . One small problem , the shower waste was blocked ,badley needing cleaned
The property is in need of updating.
The mattress was poor quality and obviously past its best as was the bed linen.
No breakfast on site and the cafe recommended with discount was not open.
We weren't provided with a key so if you go out late or early you can't get back in.
I booked table, two emails and a telephone conversation to confirm yet they seemed unaware.
Card machine 'not working' so paid cash for the meal the following day where they tried to charge for the accommodation again despite being paid in full on booking through expedia.
Nobody around on departure.
It all feels a bit run down and disorganised despite the staff being pleasant.
Mean on loo rolls for a two night stay...had to ask for more.
An over all feeling of confusion.
We really enjoyed our short stay in the family suite at Crags Hotel. Extremely friendly and welcoming staff. Large, comfortable, quiet rooms and lovely bathroom. Great breakfast. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.
Room was very clean and comfortable. Good location and parking.
Breakfast let down due to not being offered toast when order taken and when we asked for toast it appeared to be
an issue although we did receive it
Truly a great experience. Nice room, great little bar and restaurant, and wonderful super service. Perfect location in downtown Callander. A picture perfect small Scottish village with fantastic outdoor activities. In all fairness the bar was a bit noisy until around midnight and did effect our sleep on a Saturday night. Sunday night was not a problem at all. Breakfast was excellent with outstanding service. Hope to return to Callander soon and and to The Crags Hotel!

Sleepless in Callandar!
We enjoyed the breakfast and Fiona and her staff were really friendly and our room was a good size and was clean. The downside was the room had no views and unfortunately we had two sleepless / restless nights due to the very uncomfortable mattress and pillows along with really loud squeaky floor boards from the next door room!! There is a small busy bar at the front of the building which had a lovely fire but, the furnishings in there were very basic and there was' nt enough seats to go around.

Hotel bien situado
Ideal para familias, excelente atención del personal, buen desayuno
Super friendly people - staff and locals. Perfect location in the middle of town, terrific area to explore. Comfy room with good shower, en-suite. Definitely value for money and if we are back in the area we will stay here again.
Welcoming check in with a stylish and tasteful room. Hotel is perfectly located for exploring the village and nearby walks. Breakfast was delicious and well stocked breakfast bar. Would definitely go back!!
