Nice place close to all the cool stuff to do

Property was very nice, super clean, beds were comfortable. This was a great location for exploring the area. We would stay in this home again.

Very nice and cozy. Only problems was the address not listing A or B in the description . (2 units) Plus the keypad to get in to our unit was on the back door.

There were ups and downs

The inside was nice with room to stretch and not be on top of each other. I was disappointed when I finally realized 2 days before we arrived that there was no a/c. I just missed reading that in the house details. They were able to bring a portable one at a 55 a day charge. It was really hot and stuffy when we first got there but by the time we went to bed it was comfortable. Also, it was kind of strange that the yard was over run by tall weeds. It wasn't mowed and our dog didn't want to go into it.I did have an incident where I tripped over the fan (where I put it) and ended up breaking the inside window panel. They were very understanding and glad I didn't get hurt. They were prompt to send maintenance over to clean up. The location was the best part. Great view of Pikes Peak. Also close to lots of attractions, activities and great food. We were told to check out Manitou Springs. It can be difficult to find parking but we parked in a lot next to the penny arcade. Despite some confusion it was nice the it is free to park there after 6pm. The Garden of the Gods was practically in the back yard and amazing. We enjoyed are time and stay!

NO AC

This is a charming old home that has been mostly updated. I did not notice in the 'listing' that there was no Air Conditioning. This can be a BIG problem in the summer. The days that we were there got up to above 90 degrees. Fortunately there was a fan that we used constantly. We also opened windows at night to try to cool the house down. It got up to 84 degrees by the end of the day. There are a couple of things that could be done to help with this situation without having to install very expensive central air. First, how about a window air conditioner? Second, it would be nice if the windows were sealed properly so that they didn't let in so much hot air; that the windows would actually open and had screens so that they could be used to cool the house down at night. Third, it would also be helpful to cool the house (and also keep it warmer in the winter) if there were actual blinds (like the two in the bigger bedroom) that block out the sun and heat. An additional comment on the condition of the yard. It is very very run down. We couldn't quite believe that we were at the correct address because the weeds were so high and the yard so run down. The back yard COULD be so charming and inviting if it were cleaned up and weeded. Maybe this is a future project. Maybe there are not enough people to do that type of work. I don't know, but it really dampens the overall experience. We did enjoy the cute little house. We loved the preservation of the historic features.
