"Rooms were not ready when we tried to check in 45 minutes after check-in time. We had to ask for change room because the first one smelled like smoke so badly. I used the restroom and there was paper of some sort shoved into where there should have been tile. Room had ants in the bathroom and when a crumb was dropped and not noticed there were tons of ants!! When we got home we noticed a bug so we didn’t bring things into the house, but treated everything for bedbugs."

Fountain Blue - Lakeside

10/10 Excellent

"This lakeside property was so charming and a perfect getaway! It is in a great location and close to many stores and downtown. It was a great house for our girl's weekend and will for sure be back again for a longer stay!"

Albert Lea Inn and Suites

"For a 1 night stay, I guess it would be ok. But the photos and info on Expedia are not correct. They have no breakfast, the pool/sauna is closed because of issues with the Health department, the restaurant is not up and running and when I left a few days ago there was no internet or TV. (Some windows are even boarded up). Unless they have changed suddenly, it's very difficult to get help at the front desk too. They also make a lot of excuses for why things are not better. I found it difficult to get toilet paper, in room coffee, coffee cups and just the basics. I was with them 3 months while looking for a job and better housing in town. I met the owners who live in Virginia and only occasionally drop in. They are "supposed" to be fixing it up, but in my 3 months there, they went downhill and not up. I just cannot recommend them. They didn't want to do routine cleaning in my room, and their housekeeper called me dirty names, twice right in front of the Front Desk Agent, who defended him. Be careful if you are a single woman. I began to feel unsafe after I got a job and started going. It's run by a Pakistani family and it's possible they don't respect independent women. It's scary if you ask me, and I was awfully close to the people and project there. I'm not sure what's really going on there, but there have been complaints in town, as some other motel owners receive their disgruntled customers."

"The room was clean but I kept smelling thirdhand smoke (It smells like stale, musty, and sour ash mixed with old, burnt chemical notes.). It was bad enough to burn my nose and lips."

"We arrived and checked in, and the front desk staff was nice; however, we were notified that the pool was closed “for our safety” which is worrisome. When we got into our room, we pulled back the comforter and there was a stain on the bedsheets, that was absolutely disgusting - and we have no idea how cleaning staff could have missed that. We went to the front desk and were given new bedsheets and had to make the bed ourselves. Needless to say, none of us slept for more than an hour as we were completely disgusted and couldn’t wait to leave in the morning. Definitely do not recommend this hotel to anyone!"

"Pluses: Check in process was quick & easy. The breakfast was excellent. Conveniently located right off the interstate. Deltas: We stayed in a suite with a foldout couch. There was no bedding in the room to be found. My wife went down to the desk to get bedding, but they didn't give her a pillow. Another trip down when the bedding should have been in the room already. It's the only reason we booked this room & it became a headache for us."
