40 Euro parking penalty: unpleasant accommodation

This is a very unpleasant accommodation experience. We are foreign tourists who drive to the hotel. There is a parking space at the entrance of the hotel, but it has been parked. The attitude of the hotel counter staff is not very good. she told us that she has no way to handle the parking problem, we maybe could park until am 8:30 in the morning and start charging 2 euros per hour after. Although we are not very happy that the hotel did not handle it, we still told the counter staff that we would park on the street. The next morning at 9:03 am we went to pick up the car. I did not see a two-euro parking ticket, but """"a fine of 40 euros""". I took the ticket and asked the same counter person. (She told me that she had never seen me before!!!! >

The staff was very friendly and provided amazing service. The hotel itself just seemed like a patch job and paint cover up. When we got into our room there was a broken cell phone shoved into the kettle and the sink faucet was broken.

Ein schönes Hotel mitten in der Stadt, daher natürlich nicht ruhig gelegen. Sehr bequemes Bett und recht hochwertige Kissen und Decken, was vor allem bei einem längeren Aufenthalt sehr angenehm ist. The staff was outstanding!!! I had food poisoning from a supper at a restaurant in the city and the manager himself brought me some water to the room. Also the other staff members were always very friendly and helpful!!! If you like to stay in Cork I highly recommend this hotel to you! For me, I will choose a more rural area like Bantry, next time, but this has nothing to do with the hotel itself!

We really enjoyed our one-night stay at the Maldron Hotel Shandon Cork. The room was an excellent size (and I loved having a bathtub), the staff were lovely and friendly and overall it was in a convenient location, easy to get to where ever we were going. My husband also enjoyed using the pool but was surprised to find out he needed a bathing cap (lol) not that it was a big deal to purchase on.

Check in is via kiosk but there’s a person right there to help if you need. Parking is a bit competitive so recommend arriving earlier rather than later. The room was small, very sparsely furnished (no decorative items), and bathroom was fine but had all these marks and holes on walls from where renovators had taken measurements and drilled wrong holes. No washcloths. Towels clean but bare-bones. Shampoo and soap but no conditioner or lotion. It was quiet enough. Had to leave window open for cooler air. Bfast was outstanding though.

Alles soweit in Ordnung. Zimmergröße in Ordnung. Frühstück war top - allerdings ist der Frühstücksraum offensichtlich, wenn das Hotel ausgebucht ist, zu klein. Gäste nach uns haben keinen Platz mehr bekommen und mussten warten. Eine Renovierung der Zimmer (z.B. ausmalen, Steckdosen kontrollieren und neu in der Wand befestigen, etc.) wäre gut. Poolbereich wurde nicht genutzt, daher kann ich hierzu keine Angaben machen. Das Personal in der Bar könnte etwas aufmerksamer sein - scheinbar ist in der Bar Selbstbedienung, denn man wird am Tisch nicht bedient - zumindest nicht alle, manche dann wieder doch - haben das System während der drei Tage nicht ganz durchschaut.

On Ki

Compared to other four star hotel we stayed in Ireland , this is not four-star. We booked three rooms, one of it was not cleaned ( bins were not emptied, towels not changed) after the first night. Bins were also not emptied for another room but towels were changed. There is very limited parking so we were given a voucher everyday for overnight parking in a car park that is five minutes away. The voucher only covered one third of the cost. The car park is very compact, we had to be very careful going in and out.

Stayed at this hotel with my family in August 2025, and unfortunately the experience was far from what was advertised. The biggest issue was the lack of air conditioning. Our room was uncomfortably hot, and instead of a proper cooling system, the lobby and front desk were relying on portable ventilators… (!) which I found surprising and completely unacceptable for a hotel marketed as 4 stars. There was simply no air conditioning system in the room.. The breakfast room was also extremely hot in the morning, making it difficult to enjoy the meal. Having stayed in many hotels throughout the year for both work and family trips, I can say this was well below expectations. In my opinion, this hotel does not meet 4-star standards at all. 3 stars at best. The only positive was its proximity to the city center, just a short walk away. Overall, it was not a comfortable stay, and I would not return

Insgesamt eigentlich ein schönes, sauberes Hotel mit gutem Frühstück und top Ausstattung. Wir hatten ein großes Manko: Die Fenster lassen sich nur minimal öffnen dadurch ist Lüften nicht möglich. Das Zimmer hatte also die ganze Nacht über mindestens 45 grad. Schlaf war also nahezu unmöglich.
