Cabin with Jaw-dropping Views near Black Canyon
Feast your eyes on this awesome and unobstructed view of the West Elks Mountain range and Grand Mesa from our big front porch! The house features 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room with sleeper sofa, fully stocked kitchen, dining area, and a second living area downstairs. Outside you’ll find a patio with fire pit where you can sit around a campfire and enjoy the incredible view of Needle Rock and surrounding mountains. We also offer an RV site with full hookup. The Black Canyon is nearby, where you can take in the awesome views and some amazing hiking. Also Crawford reservoir, which offers the opportunity for fishing, boating, kayaking etc, is just down the road. The small town of Crawford has a coffee shop, cafe, and other unique shops. Also a convenience store and hardware store where you can buy groceries and other necessities.

This home was outstanding! The beautiful view of the mountains and the fall colors were breathtaking. The property was visited daily by a herd of 15 mule deer that grazed and bedded down for the night just yards away from the house. A badger and some bunnies were also hanging around. The home was comfortable and the kitchen was very well equipped. There were soft drinks, water bottles, and staples in the fridge for us and I found my new favorite coffee among the many flavors provided. If you like to just chill and read a book, play games, or work puzzles, there are plenty of them provided. For families or groups where some want to explore and go on adventures, and others just like to hang out and chill with the views…. this is the perfect place for everyone. We will be recommending this VRBO to all of our friends.

We had an amazing stay at this property that is a piece of heaven. The views from the deck and fire pit area are incredible!We had a little difficulty with the keypad entry upon arrival but the owner was easy to communicate with and the problem was quickly remedied. I would recommend this property if you are looking for a peaceful place to relax and rejuvenate.

We loved our stay here in Crawford! It was great watching the deer and the view was spectacular. The unit had lots of amenities like condiments and some food in the cupboard that helped on our first night there. There were lots of towels and everything was very clean. I highly recommend this unit. The stars at night were fabulous as well. I don’t think I’ve seen that many stars in a long, long time.

Nice house, setting is the peak
The setting is amazing, just as pictured. We enjoyed sunsets against the mountains and hiking Needle Rock which we could see from the house. I wish I had realized when booking that it was close to the North Rim of Black Gunnison, but the South Rim where the visitors center is was over an hour away (my fault, but just FYI). The house was clean, although it did feel like you were at someone else’s house (I realize that is what VRBO is, but the really good ones make it feel like it’s your house, this one had good in fridge and freezer and kind of a mismash of kitchen supplies, but we found what we needed). Overall, a great stay, but not quite five stars compared to others we have been to.

Great Astrophotography site with over 30 deer observing.
Fantastic dark sky site in a Bortle 2 classification. Perfectly clear skies for great astrophotographic conditions. The wildlife was awesome and house was perfect for us.

Annual Girl’s Getaway
My mom and I take a trip every autumn and we chose Black Canyon of the Gunnison this year. It was a pretty lowkey trip and this hike was the perfect home base for the week! Very clean, very inviting, very comfortable and quiet!! Carl was very responsive and helpful! We had a blast and would definitely come back! Thanks for an amazing week in your neck of the woods!
