Priced accordingly, this is a tough place to stay. Poor quality mattresses and linens. Poorly insulated rooms allow for you to hear everything in the bathroom across the hallway along with all of your neighbors. Baseboard heat makes the room go from 50° tov100° and is supplemented by a portable electric space heater. Creaky floors, covered in delaminating, separating Pergo. Evidence of past leaks and rotting window sills--really the list of deficiencies is the only thing impressive here. The positives? The bar next door closes at 2:00 AM so the room gets quieter shortly after and you wake up in Crested Butte which is fantastic as soon as you leave this dump.
Nice older place if you like this environment. They really need to be sure people understand what they are getting into before they book a room here. The cleanliness was horrible, bathroom(community) was not clean. We ended up cleaning the bathroom so we could use it!! Bedroom was small, nice but showed dust & dirt build up, front door light outside the hotel was out and the carpet going upstairs looked like it was never taken care of. We felt like we were back in a college dorm! I would not recommend this place to anyone. In addition, if a family or older couple were to book this hotel they would be disappointed. Room is about all you get. I would have left the day we arrived, gone to another hotel if we could have! But, unfortunately we were locked into this nightmare and could not get our money back due to their cancellation policy. In additional I even purchased insurance and it appears to be a joke too. Unable to get our money back!! Owner apparently does not care about the hotel. Only his Resturant below the hotel. I am never going to book s room this way again. Seems to me at the end nobody really cares about the customer only the MONEY!
I got altitude sickness The night before I was to stay at the florist queen. I ended up in the hospital emergency room and could not continue my check up any higher in altitude. I called to talk to the manager to try to change or cancel my room.I tried to cancel my reservation to no avail I ended up not going to Crestview, and then also having to pay for another room at a lower altitude.

Shared bathroom
The location is amazing and it’s such a perk being right in town. However, be aware some of these rooms are a shared bathroom situation and I did not realize this when booking the room. We wouldn’t mind this, but the bathroom was very dirty with hair and scum everywhere. And the shower had such little water pressure you had to stand against the wall to get any water. This is also a small detail, but there was nowhere to get a drink of water except for from the dirty bathroom faucet. But the restaurant staff below were very nice and accommodating!
The room was super small and it was very hot in it. The bathtub was not draining while we were taking a shower and there was no water pressure in the shower. However the hotel was at a perfect location, walking distance to lots of restaurants and stores. We also enjoyed sleeping with the sound of the river.

Phenomenal location, friendly staff. Just be sure to understand you're getting a bed in a room with a very ordinary bathroom down the hall. I slept really well, no major complaints.
Disappointed in condition of room. Lampshades were noticeably finger soiled, window to outdoors need to be completed replaced (original wood window from the 1880's?) and the single pane glass had a crack and hole in the glass. Entrance way stairs need new carpet.
Perfect location if you’re okay with something simple! It’s exactly as advertised and was great for what we were looking for.

Couldn't beat the price but it is basically a bed to sleep in. Bathroom is shared. Parking is available if you are lucky to find it on the street. Could hear the partying from nearby bar.
Had a great stay at the Forest queen! Would def stay again. Loved the Hotel Restaurant amenities and being on main st. Nice having the restaurant downstairs at your footsteps. So convenient of walking out with your dog and taking in the old town and neighborhood.
Location, location, location! Stay on the downtown main street (Elk Ave) and walk to shops and restaurants within only minutes. This former saloon and brothel will keep you cozy and warm and near the action. You can also eat in the highly rated restaurant downstairs if you don't want to bundle up and eat somewhere else. The room was small at 8 ft by 11 ft, but had it's own private bathroom. There is also a communal bathroom, but I don't know if some of the rooms don't have their own. The room stayed as warm as you like with the supplied space heater and the queen size bed was very comfortable. You can hop on the shuttle bus or drive and park at the Crested Butte ski resort, about 5 minutes away. If you are someone who doesn't need 5 star hotel accommodations and just need a warm cozy bed and a shower/bath, then this place is perfect for you. I would suggest calling the hotel directly to check pricing, they listed Vacancy and nightly price of $89.00. Hotels.com charged us around $150 per night.
Crested Butte is a fun and quirky little ski town. Like all ski towns, the prices are way too high for what you get, but the Forest Queen is way out of line. It was the smallest room I've ever been in and there is one shared bathroom for 7 rooms. It was better than camping, but not by much. Anything more than $40 nightly is way too much. Other than that, the people were very nice and the location is excellent. The only other issue was the neighboring club has pretty loud music until 2am.
The location would be hard to beat if they put in even the smallest effort to insulate any of the noises. There was unfortunately live music next door, and it was almost like we were sitting right in the bar as we tried to fall asleep (despite ear plugs). You can also hear people coming in and out of the shared bathroom at all times (also too many people to bathroom ratio). The heater makes weird clanking noises all night. If I had paid what the hotel themselves would have charged I would have been a little less upset, but finding out that Expedia would go to handle both this review and my request on one of their guarantees so poorly has convinced me to never stay here again and to stop using Expedia.
Forest Queen Hotel should be torn down. Probably not structurally sound. Misleading advertising. Shared cold bathroom, very expensive for what you get. NO PARKING! Took over an hour driving around the block waiting for a parking spot, then it was NOT an overnight spot and had to wait until past my bedtime to move to find a legal spot. Short bed. Left a day early just because I was NOT going to spend another day in an uncomfortable room, no TV, everything in town was way, way, overpriced. Didn't want to move my car to sight see because I was afraid it would take another hour to find another spot. Very disappointing and very expensive.
The guest part of the hotel is just a single hallway above the restaurant with 5-6 rooms. The worst part is you can hear the people in all the rooms around you. Other than that, it's pretty quaint. No tv or ammenities though. Just plan to sleep there. Right on main shopping street of town so very convenient but no parking so you have to find a spot in the neighborhood.
