The lighthouse, established in 1749 at Beavertail Point, was the granddaddy of all Rhode Island lighthouses and only the third one—after Boston Harbor and Nantucket’s Brant Point—in the American colonies.
Today is a museum that features a collection of information, artifacts, and conversation about the history and site of the third-oldest lighthouse in North America.
The lighthouse is located in Beavertail State Park at the end of Beavertail Road, at the southern tip of Conanicut Island. There is free parking. The grounds are open to the public.

“We loved our stay! Our host was very attentive which made our check in and out, easy. The house was FULLY stocked which was a huge plus. We would absolutely consider renting again on our next trip.Although it did not detract from the overall stay, I would like to warn guests (especially older guests) of the raised dining room, which you can see in the property photos. "The hotel’s location is great, not far from main street. They also offer a free Shuttle bus to take customers to the busiest area in town, so, you don’t have to worry about parking ! We reserved a water view room. It had two big windows , one of the curtain is broken, and they said they are out of batteries, so can not fix it during our stay, so we had to keep it closed all the time. So we can not see the water view from our bed, also because it is too broken, it can not really block the light either! We pay more for a water view room, but end up had no view and no good sleep! Pleople who works in the bar restaurant are really friendly, but the environment is filthy! A lot feathers came out of decoration pillows! Not very comfortable visually! "
