"We stayed tin owensboro ky at 51 bon harborhills. We paid for our pet to be with us and a late checkout. I had surgery scheduled for today. My husband dropped me off at the hospital went back to the hotel to check on her dog. We had to do not disturb sign out on the door. he goes in our dog is missing. He is panicking runs around, trying to find him our room was by the stairs. He goes downstairs and finds the dog running around the downstairs hallway. No one even noticed and he not came back when he did. Our dog could’ve went right out the door and got hit or been stolen by someone when he found a dog and went back upstairs to the room to pack the rest of our things up one of the maids she was really short with dark black hair was kept banging on the door trying to get in. Why did we pay for a late checkout if they were gonna be banging on our door and coming in anyway I want to know who let my dog out ! And why they were in our room when we weren’t there was a do not disturb !?we asked the staff what went on why someone was even going in our door with the do not disturb sign on the door? We got no answers at all. I feel like someone was in our room trying to steal stuff while we were gone. I don’t know why else they would come in when we had a late checkout and we had to do not disturb sign hanging on the door this place is a freaking joke. Do not ever stay there ! This place is terrible fir customer service snd basic respect for its guests"

"The hotel is run by foreigners who were decent, a bit hard to understand, but who definitely don't live by the American standard of living in a lot of ways that showed in the rooms. The tub/shower combo had a cloth shower curtain which was barely long enough. It was also on a curved bar and wouldn't stay up tight to the wall like it should, so therefore the bathmat outside the tub and half of the rest of the bathroom floor was a huge puddle after every shower!! We mopped up with used towels as best we could, but opted not to even take showers the second morning! Fortunately we checked out that morning. The first morning we discovered we had TWO sets of towels/washcloths for THREE of us. My son went to the front desk and the owner told him it was $10 per night for more towels!! I followed him immediately to see what on earth was going on with that! Turns out, he thought my son was from an upstairs room that only had two people who had previously asked for 4 sets for those two! He did give me the third set we needed...but after that experience we opted not to try to get more sets for our final night/morning! We could have each reused our own if we hadn't had to mop the semi-clean bathroom floor with them!! Just overall, I would say this hotel is rather run-down. It is in need of a whole makeover! Oh, and by the way, there is no continental breakfast there either. It was 90% occupied by construction work crews or the like. It was tolerable and cheap, we got what we paid for!"

"For an overnight stay, it was superb for the price point! The rooms were sparkling clean and modern. But, as others have written, there is renovation going on about the exterior building and grounds. (Signage lists the improvements, some already have been completed.) I look forward to staying again to see the final results! There is no pool or gym, but the breakfast looked great. I passed on breakfast as I was scheduled for a "breakfast meeting." My only complaint is that the desk chair in the room was very worn and wonky. "

"The staff was very helpful during check in and check out and I had no problems with the process. Breakfast was also great and opened very early which worked well for my schedule. Overall, great stay if you're visiting Owensboro and would go back again!"

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Madisonville by IHG

"I booked a room that had an accessible roll in shower because I’m in a wheelchair. The room they gave me was not accessible and the shower wasn’t accessible either. They told us they only had one room in the entire hotel that had a roll in shower and it was booked already. So they gave us a shower chair instead. What’s the point in picking your room when booking when you don’t even get that. Such an inconvenience especially because I’m in a wheelchair"
