"Our stay at Opal had some positives, but the check-in experience and overall communication were disappointing and set the tone for the visit. At arrival, there was confusion around our reservation and very little proactive communication from the staff. We weren’t clearly informed about what was happening, what the delay was, or what to expect next. Instead of feeling welcomed, we felt like we had to keep asking questions just to understand basic details. Throughout the stay, this lack of communication continued in smaller ways—information wasn’t clearly shared, and we often had to follow up ourselves rather than staff anticipating needs or keeping us informed. To their credit, the hotel did offer some compensation (drink vouchers and breakfast), which was appreciated. However, those gestures didn’t fully make up for the initial experience and ongoing communication gaps. For a property at this level, I would expect a much more organized and proactive approach—especially at check-in, which is the first impression. With better communication and clearer coordination, this could easily be a much stronger guest experience."

"The staff and guests that stay there who some actually own timeshares in, we're extremely friendly. They let us check in a little early and everything was clean. I would definitely go back if I was ever visiting. Only knock I would have on the whole place with the oven. I think they had cleaned it recently and the product residue was left over and it made the oven smoke a bit but it was not a big deal. Overall very satisfied "

"Great place with short walk to beach. Beach chairs, towels and anything needed for beach included. Great outdoor space with hammock and patio furniture. We frequently used the grill. Bob's nearby for any questions. Loved this beach cottage. "

"The location of this property is excellent and very convenient. The air conditioning worked well, the main bed was comfortable, and the TV programming options were good. However, the overall condition of the home and amenities were significantly below what is represented in the listing photos. The outdoor white dining set and the rattan furniture set pictured where both no longer present. The back patio and shower were covered in black mold. The furniture set in the vestibule has mismatched, worn and stained cushions that did not reflect the advertised standard. The landscaping and overall presentation were noticeably neglected compared to the listing images.Upon arrival, we found the kitchen smoke detector was sitting in pieces on top of the cabinets. That was repaired the next day after we reported it, and pest control was sent out as well. While those specific issues were addressed, there were several additional maintenance concerns, including damaged shower doors, non-functioning fan remotes, and other signs of deferred upkeep. This was not simply a minor maintenance oversight — the property’s current condition does not align with the photos used to market it. VRBO ultimately provided a partial credit after reviewing the discrepancies.If location is your only priority, this property may still work. If you are booking based on the appearance and condition shown in the listing, I would strongly recommend requesting updated, current photos before reserving."

"Lock box was tough to use and we arrived late at night compounding the issue. Property was listed as having a dishwasher and it did not have one. Property photos are misleading as well- showing a dishwasher so as to trick the renter. Someone entered our unit and left a broom and mop containing broke glass which was stepped on - fortunately not by o end our children. When contacting the property management the claimed they didn’t know there was no dishwasher. Not sure how you advertise and manage a property and not know amenities it has.Lots of ants in the kitchen and no ant traps or anything to address the pest issue.After contacting the property management company about the issues they never directly addressed my concerns and ask for acceptance of the issues. I’m not okay with people entering without notification and leaving broken glass behind.This was unit C. Stayed in unit A last year with no issues.Felt like the property needs maintenance and up keep, but it’s being sold instead. This is a money maker for them and little to no interest in actuallyimproving the visitor experience. Bare minimum to maintain margins vs overhead. We won’t be returning next year."
