I enjoyed my stay at Dundee backpackers hostel.The room was clean,the staff were friendly and helpful.The location is ideally situated in the town centre although I think the £161.00 price for 2 nights a little steep.There are informal signs about the history of the building which I found very interesting Recommended

Had a private room with bathroom and the bedroom was massive! Location is amazing as right in middle of town. Easy check in amd helpful staff. Didn't use any of the amenities but looked good

Great location in terms of access to shops, restaurants, train & bus stations. But that same location in the heart of Dundee has a very different vibe at night, attracting a younger, very loud, late-night revelers. It sounded like the windows were open on my 4th floor room overlooking High Street and would have been impossible to sleep without earplugs, which are free at the Front Desk:) 5-stars for: 1) the cleanliness of the twin bed room w/ private bath; 2) early check-in I was allowed on short notice; 3) the kind & helpful Front Desk receptionists; 4) good pressure/hot water in shower; and 5) wifi connection. I did not use any of the common areas and cannot rate those amenities

Nice hostel, in the center of downtown Dundee. 12 minute walk from the train station and bus station. MacDonald, Wendy's, KFC are 4 minutes walk. Very well stocked shared kitchen. Four fridges, microwave, stove and oven. Pots, pans, silverware, knives, everything you need for cooking. No elevator, narrow stairs, five floors. Carrying a heavy suitcase up the stairs is difficult. Thin walls, outside noise enters room. Need earplugs.

Really close to bus stops and rail service. Located in the middle of a pedestrian area next to a shopping center and a venue, which means it can get a bit noisy at night (especially weekends). First time staying in a hostel, can't beat the price.

My single bed room with private bathroom was medium sized. It has a hot water kettle. But no TV. The smallest window opens to let in fresh air. There is a very good shared kitchen, with four fridges, pots, pans, silverware, knifes, microwave, stove and oven. There are five floors with dormitory beds and several private rooms some with shared bathroom and others have pravite bathroom. Check in was fairly easy. Just show ID. Clean towels are on each floor, self service. Front desk in lobby is open 8:00am to midnight. One thing this hostel/hotel needs is sound proofing. The walls are thin and I can hear everything outside my room. Bring earplugs.

Dundee derby trip from mid Wales

Great value for money accomodation. Location was amazing. Can be a bit noisy if you are looking out at the square. Very clean . Very comfortable twin beds and lovely shower. Looking around the hostel, it seemed what a hostel should be with different nationalities mingling in the kitchen and TV room. Easy checking in. Loved the place. Would recommend to anyone

No elevator so you need to carry your luggage up and down the stairs. Rooms with street view very noisy at night until 2-3am. Nos good if you need a good night sleep before catching an early flight. Room and shared bathroom were clean.

Very convenient, friendly and accommodating staff. Common areas and rooms clean. Bathrooms built in a way that might be hard to keep floors clean, recommend pool/shower shoes. Friday night brought an element of rough sleepers hanging by the entrance hoping to be buzzed in — not a big deal, but it’s necessary for the guests to maintain boundaries since staff is sometimes not present to help if a non-guest trying to work their way in.

Ok for a quick stopover

Place was okay as a stopover for a couple of nights but my room looked directly on the Main Street. It was incredibly noisy at night and first thing in the morning. The room itself was very clean and basic. Due to availability, I had to book a hostel rather than hotel, so sharing a toilet and showering wasn’t great, especially as bins weren’t emptied regularly. For £80 a night, the room should have at least had a kettle in it too.
