“The Retreat is gorgeous. The views of the Volcano and Lake are amazing. The pescatarian menu is perfect for vegetarians and pescatarians. All three meals are served. We did not have meals included but very much enjoyed dinner and breakfast there. The pocket sized gathering places are charming - slider over looking lake, dining room and reception, the separate lounge area with tea and coffee looking into the jungle. The evening walk was fun. The property is on the top of a very steep hill……

“Fantastic location for visiting Arenal area. Hotel property is well maintained and easy to get around. Staff were all very helpful, especially when suggesting route to take to next hotel after a landslide closed the main road. Eating breakfast on porch overlooking lake was fantastic!”

“Lovely self sustaining eco resort in the midst of the forest. We loved the food, the coziness of the cabin, the yoga classes, and wandering around the property. The farm tour and the night tour were fun activities to do with a 4 year old. We did not like: occasional smell of sewage around the property, especially around the pools. Dated bathrooms in cabins - needs a refresh. Construction noise around the property. ”

“Everything was good, the staff even better. The only improvement I would suggest is make a better breakfast, just charge $10-$15 more if nothing better possible at the current rates, people would not mind to pay a bit extra for a better breakfast.”
