The hotel is old, but clean and in a good location for us. The staff is really friendly.
Staff was very friendly and explained that they are short staffed and informed us of the situation. This allowed our expectations to be realistic and everything was great. We just had to go pick up freash towels in the office. This is an old school motel so..knowkknow that.
Was fine-clean, friendly staff at check in, until you come in at 9:20 and while discuss the amazing meal you had the room next door yells “shut the f*** up b*****s” through the door that separates the two room. Definitely do not feel comfortable and will not be returning.
Wonderful stay! The room was spotless, and the check-in process was warm and welcoming. I especially enjoyed waking up to the peaceful view of deer right outside my window — such a lovely touch of nature. I would definitely stay here again!
The Deitzel is a quaint old-fashioned motel, with cute fixtures one no longer finds, like the porcelain gas wall heaters and built-in chest of drawers.
However, it is not upscale, so if you require such touches, this is not the place for you. One must appreciate vintage preservation to enjoy this stay.
We felt comfortable once we got the AC to stay on. (Turn it off the auto setting).
The beds were a little too soft for our liking, but others may enjoy how pillowy they are.
Late night check in staff was pleasant and gave good suggestions for places to eat.
We enjoyed looking out at deer in the early morning through the gorgeous windows that make up pretty much the entire back wall.
Overall, the room served its purpose, with a little retro charm added in.
This is a old motel, because of that we love it. Takes care of your basic needs, is clean and comfortable.

The room we stayed in was clean and everything worked. The room was falling into disrepair, though. The door to bathroom had a laminate that was badly damaged, the beds creaked quite a lot, and there was a some broken drywall in the bathroom window. The property is affordable, convenient, safe, and quiet and we will likely stay there again but wish the room was in better condition.
Super clean, safe hotel and room; and the staff was SO NICE! We will be staying here every time we come to Fredericksburg for sure.

It was okay just for a one night stay. Clean enough, but desperately needs to be updated. Paneling on doors is falling apart, ceiling above one of our beds was sagging, wondering how they keep each room warm in the winter as there were incredibly old and seemingly unsafe heaters installed into the walls. Staff was kind and helpful.
At first glance the property was questionable. But the staff was super friendly, the beds super comfy and ac worked very well. Not to mention reasonably priced! Definitely would stay again.
We loved this motel -- very clean with spacious rooms, No fancy amenities but we didn't expect that. The staff is friendly and the location very convenient to shops and dining.
