"Very nice staff. However, there was black mold in the bathroom, the entire place is closed from 10am-3pm, it's hard to find the staff even during "open" hours, and it's far from the train station. It is very close to all of the 7 Hells and some of the best onsen in Japan."
"Kunisakiso Ryocan was lovely. We ended our trip in Kyushu here, and it was very relaxing. We get to book a private bath, and the family bath is a first come first serve, so we split that between my dughter and I in the family bath whie my husband took the private bath - no bathing suits allowed. They also have a huge public bath, but my daughter would not have anything to do with that. After a few very heck days, our two night stay was a much needed rest. We missed the evening dinner reservation...
"We had a great stay at Ryokan Kiraku. First, the service is excellent! Even my son noticed: "Everyone is running!" They happily stored our bags when we arrived before check-in. Everything was explained clearly. The onsens were well-maintained, and we especially loved the ability to use the private onsen between certain hours, or reserve the family onsen.
The location was very convenient, less than five minutes to Kannawa bus station. It's also quite a reasonable walk to five of the...
"The buffet for both Dinner and breakfast is nice. My family enjoyed the prawns for steaming at our table. And also we could grill our food at out table for breakfast. Interesting and very fresh."

We missed the evening dinner reservation at the Ryocan, so the staff recommended Hama Sushi, a 5 min walk from the Ryocan. it was delicious and very reasonably priced. This spot was great because it is very close to the Hells of Beppu, which was the end of our tour from Hakata. It is a bit out of the way so we got a taxi to the YouMe mall where we found some great deals on clothing!
Beppu is a much slower pace city compared to the hustle and bustle of the bigger centers. In the mist of summer, it is even more quiet, but that works to our advantage as we almost had the entire place to ourselves! The staffs were super nice and they served a delicious traditional breakfast which was greatly appreciated as this gabe is a glimpse of what lhelarhy ocals eat.
We would definitely stay here again.

"This was our first visit to beppu and first stay at this location. At first glance it looks older, but the staff met us halfway as we walked from the bus stop. This was the only hotel that did that and highlighted the start of a great stay with great service. They took us all the way to the front desk and provided us great service to the room. We chose a private open air Onsen and traditional setting, which they fixed our rooms each day. We could see the ocean on one side and mountain (for fire festival) on the other. Great location to everything and would definitely stay again. "
"Hotel was centrally located near the Kanawa Bus Station/Hells Pools/food steam restaurant. 10min walk from the bus station. The hotel was clean & has an onsen! Tatami rooms w/a kitchen, tiny bathroom (ship size). It is an older hotel, but it was perfect for us. The young man running the hotel was so nice and pleasant. We had a slight translation issue but used our google translate. Perfect area and close to the main sights. 20 min to JR Beppu station by bus from the Kanawa Bus Station. We arrived at the Beppudaigaku Station (walk across the street to get the local bus to Kanawa bus station 15min ride). The hotel is older but was perfect to experience a real ryokan (tatami floor & futons). Sauna & onsen on 1st floor. 7-11 across from Kanawa bus stop. This hotel is not in the city center of Beppu, but in the outskirts. But walkable to the sights. Take a bus to Yufuin-50 min from Kanawa station. Rate is super reasonable (we stayed 4 nights). I chose this location becuz I wanted to be near the Hells pools. Excellent location, rate, clean...perfect for us and we have stayed at the Tokyo Station hotel, so we know what the difference is and was perfectly satisfied with this property. "
Beppu, private house for up to 8 people, free parking, high-speed WIFI, organic cotton towels and bedding

"It’s nice to use a big Tatami room for my meditation and Yoga. I love to use very unique iron pans in the kitchen that works so well. If we could get better bath system and kitchen stoves, it might easier for us."
