The staff put my name on everything, including the menu for dinner. There was also a museum on the first floor teaching the history of onsens. All and all, an absolutely amazing experience!!!"

The bathroom door does lock so you do have privacy. The innkeeper and family live on site and are very welcoming and friendly. We were allowed to leave our luggage for a short time after check out. They were also helpful witj specific restaurant recommendations. If you want a genuine Japanese ryokan"
