"All of the staff we saw at different points of our stay were really lovely and helpful. Behind the reception desk and on at breakfast especially. Room was very clean and also breakfast staff super helpful in terms of dietary requirements. Would definitely stay again. The walk into town at night didn’t feel the safest but otherwise no complaints. "

"As regulars, we love the setting and architectural splendour here. The spa is good. The food, however, is disappointing. Breakfast could be improved with quality bread and hotter cooked food. Pastries quite limited and fruit quite basic. We recommend cooking some bacon to crispy, replacing the bread which is the worst we’ve had in a hotel. The stunning lilies in the reception need care as pollen was dropping-it stains any material it contacts "

"This hotel was highly rated as the best in UK… unfortunately it did not live up to this expectation. The facilities are run down; it has a nice pool that was probably amazing in its day. The breakfast was good; better than the Michelin star dinner! Our experience may have been tainted because we had just stayed at Heckfield place which was so much better! The grounds and the main house is quite beautiful. We would have loved to do some horse riding but the weather wasn’t permitting. "

"It was a shame there was no dining in the restaurant on a Monday and Tuesday evenings. I can’t understand why there was never anyone using the bar area. We looked in a couple of times, but decided not to go in as we would have been the only ones there. It’s a shame as the actual place is quaint and in a beautiful setting by the river. Breakfast was excellent and the Staff were lovely, but it just lacks that something. The pub across the toll bridge was packed on the Monday and Tuesday evening...
