A lovely Stilt Home (not a manufactured or double wide) situated on almost 4 acres of beautiful “Old Florida” landscape just north of the “Chassahowitzka National Park”. We call the property 'The Sanctuary' - here you can meander down 'Dream Trail' to 'Eagle Point' on the property. Eagles have been spotted flying overhead. The private screened enclosed pool is perfect!
SHORT TRIP by BOAT TO GULF. Scenic ride to the Gulf of Mexico for renowned fishing and Seasonal Scalloping. Boat ramps are a short distance away and plenty of room to park your trailer at the house. A scenic 15-minute boat ride will take you into some of Florida's best fishing areas in the Gulf of Mexico or cruise up the Homosassa River toward Homosassa’s Wildlife Park where you can swim with manatees in crystal clear springs. It is also a 5-minute drive to the Homosassa Spring Park to see their exhibit up close.
2 bicycles are available. 1 Grumman Aluminum Canoe and 3 kayaks are provided for our guests to enjoy right off the boat dock in our cove that leads to meandering and enjoyable leisure rowing. Fish right off the dock! When we are down, we park our two 21 ft boats at the dock. We do not recommend Boats with stationary T-Tops. Bimini Tops are best to Navigate the Bridge. Let us know if you wish to rent a Golf Cart. Boat and Pontoon rentals are available in Old Homosassa for an exciting adventure on the River or Gulf. Our cove in cooler months is known to have several Manatee, last season again we had a mom and her newborn living there. The sounds of nature are incredible. The house has a wrap-around screened porch, perfect for reading or Yoga.
We are 65 minutes from Tampa and Busch Gardens and from Orlando, Disney World, Sea World and Universal Studios. Clearwater and its beautiful beaches and Aquarium, home of “Winter” star of “Dolphin Tales' are an hour drive from the house. Sandy white beaches are located in Chrystal River, a 15-minute drive or 25 minutes south to Pine Island. Enjoy all the activities Florida has to offer in a short ride. This area is remote enough to take you away but close enough to major grocery chains & restaurants. At local establishments like the Florida Cracker, MacRae's, the Old Mill Tavern, Crump's and others, you will definitely experience true American small town friendliness teaming with local color. "The Freezer" is our favorite! There are numerous quality golf courses within a short driving distance and many Florida Birding Trails.
The park-like property is very quiet and has complete seclusion and privacy. In season you can pick your very own oranges and grapefruits. There is parking for two cars out of direct sun. The rear of the house is south facing maximizing the amount of sun during the day on the fully screened large kidney shaped heated pool (heated in the cool months for an extra charge). There is an outdoor shower. The sunsets are glorious. A dining area with chairs and table are poolside. The large Florida Living Room has cable TV, a sofa, a two-seat love sofa and a large single armchair. The kitchen has all needed appliances, dishes and utensils. 2 coffee makers, a Kuerig and a Drip There is an adjoining breakfast area with table and chairs for 6. The utility room has a washer, dryer and a large sink. All linen and towels (including beach towels) are provided.
A maximum number of 6 people are accepted on a rental for the given rate. There are comfortable beds for 6 people. Up to 2 additional people can be added at $25 each for each night. A cot, a twin air mattresses and a child's Pack & Play are available for use.
The main bedroom has a King-size bed, en-suite bathroom with tub/shower and a walk-in closet. There are two other bedrooms, one Queen and one with Twin beds, ample closet space, and they share a 2nd bathroom which has a bath/overhead shower, toilet and vanity unit. French doors lead out to the pool area and a door from the Main Bedroom and the Queen Guestroom lead out to the pool. There is a Gas Barbecue and Charcoal grill provided for your use.
Just a reminder... There is a bridge to navigate to our dock- we do not recommend T-Top boats. Bimini's are no problem. Check out the photos.
