"Staff were really excellent - super helpful. Location was a bit outside of the main city centre but the hotel runs free shuttles to/from the city centre on an hourly bases. There is car parking available for a fee. Hotel and room looks a bit dated but has a great view of Sakurajima. Onsen is smaller than what can be seen in the pictures - view of Sakurajima from the bath is unfortunately blocked for privacy reasons. "

"The view of the volcano was immaculate every morning of my 2 night stay. Thankful for the staff for getting me a corner room on the 11th floor. Laundry was easy to use, bathtub was awesome as it also had a view of the volcano and after walking all day the sauna on the 1st floor was a great end of day treat!"

"On the top floor of the hotel has a large public bath split into men's and women's sides. You go in there naked and shower before sitting in a giant hot tub. It's amazing.... "No wonder my friend said we had to stay at the Shiroyama on learning we are going to Kagoshima. The hotel is like the Tokyo Imperial Hotel and more transported to this location on top of a hill, facing the Sakurajima volcano, which one can stare at while bathing in the open air mineral waters at the onsen/spa. There are many different restaurants inside this enormous place so we dined in for the 2 nights. There is a shuttle service to the downtown area to while the daytime hours, which also goes to the train station."
